I just went to my local bike shop to get some prices on tires. They have 2 kinds in stock, the BridgeStone BT45s, which I have on my bike now and Avon Roadriders. The Avons are about $65 cheaper and apparently are very popular. I took a look at them and they look like nice tires. So I was just wondering if anyone has riden on these Avons? I am looking for the stickier tire of the 2, even if it means that it will have a lower life.

Stay clear of the avons. believe me i had two ets because of the price. they're a full hard compound tire and do not offer you ave the grip the bt45's do. in the rain they are useless. sure they'll last about 13,000 miles but fuck if they're worth all that. BT45's are the way to go. but if you feel comfortable doin the tires yourself buy them off the net and save yourself some money. even if you don't buy them off the net and get a shop to install them for you they should charge around 20 euro per tire including taking the old tire off. it should work out cheaper than buying the tires off them and getting them to install them.

+1 - I fitted a set of the Avons to my old 600 Diversion (Seca 2) and they were the most miserable 11 odd thou miles I have ever spent on a bike. Rubbish, verging on dangerous.
