Hey everyone, my name is Rimantas.  I'm a week-old owner of a blue '89 CB-1.  I've been looking for one for a few years and was really excited when I found one for sale on craigslist.  It's too bad I didn't find this message board sooner since it looks like there are a few good bikes for sale here.

I've been riding a Ninja 250 for about four and a half years, and this will be my second bike.  So far it's great!  The previous owner did a few retarded things to it, scariest of which is Armor All'd tires.  Yikes!  The edges of the tires are slick as ice, and I haven't dared to lean it over any significant amount, which is annoying since this bike feels like it has a lot of potential to take on curves.  I read that Armor All can be removed with soap, water, and some scrubbing, but I'm skeptical.  I'd rather just get new tires.  The front wheel crackles sometimes when the bike is rolling, which makes me think that the bearings are worn out.  There is also has a crack in the frame on the left side, right next to the rubber gas tank cushion, which I hear is a common problem.  These all seem like fixable problems, though.

In any case, I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.  Smiley  Maybe I'll see some of you who are in the Inland Empire area of California out on the road sometime.  Ride safe and keep the shiny side up.  And I don't mean Armor All shiny!

Welcome!

If your front wheel occasionally "cracks" and you suspect wheel bearings....FIX IT NOW!!!! I just went through that and it does not take long for your bearing to detonate. When mine went it mushed the inside of my hub and cracked it. A good front wheel is not easy to find, but bearings are.

Cheers

Then this advise I shall heed.  Bearings are pretty affordable anyway.
