I've always liked the cb-1 and there is one near me (on vacation) with 45,000 miles (valves checked and in spec at 40k)

before I risk the ire of the wife for looking at another bike, is that milage a problem?

I had over 51,000 on a transalp and 62,000 on a Valkyrie and they both ran like new (or close to it) and were good for another 50k on the alp and 100k+ on the valkyie

And how desirable is the  F2 fork and cbr 900 rear shock mods?

Thanks in advance

Short answer is "ages". I sold mine with >50k on it, and it's still going strong.

The CBR900 rear shock is a crock, it leaves your bike undersprung and it won't ride properly. If you can dick about changing the spring etc. then go ahead, but a std blade shock won't work, I have ridden a bike that had it and my old one back to back and it was horrible.

I wouldn't bother much with the forks unless you like the look of dual discs. The CB1's forks are up to the job, and if they're not working right then refresh the bushes and oil before spending big money. I fitted a brembo front brake from a cagiva planet using an adapter from spiegler.de and the brakes were fantastic.
