I think you did well on the bike as well.
As for the seat. Put the key in the helmet lock and unlock it. There is a steel loop under the helmet lock that needs to be pulled/ pushed down till the latch at the very back of the seat releases. You will be able to lift the back of the seat a little. Then hit the seat right where it steps up pushing it toward the rear of the bike to release two tabs clipped in to the frame under the step in the seat. I have to hit mine quite hard to get the clips to release. The seat should be free then and lifts off.
No fuel light, you're right, that sucks. The bike should go about 100 miles, 160km from full to reserve at which point you still have almost a gallon left. If you are starving for fuel when you still have lots, check for a plugged air vent on the tank or a bad fuel pump. If you open the tank immediately after running and there is a whoosh of air, the vent is plugged.
The slinky stuff is what I thought was missing, just couldn't see it in the pic. The rubber nub that I got is just a generic stopper that slips in to the hole from an automotive trim outfit.
You are right about the cables as well. Higher bars usually means you need longer cables.
The original tires were Bridgestone Exedra's but you can easily check the manufacture date on the tire sidewall.
All in all I think a very nice find for you. Enjoy!!

hey thanx for the tips. looking forward to hgim sending me the manuals i guess!:) the rubber stopper i think IS there. i thought maybe u mentioned a second one on the lower part as well? honda says only the one? just pops in there about inch and a half round? im just missing teo screws for the aluminum side panels and one handlebar weight end. if u have those or know where to find let me know. $6 or 8 EACH fopr the bolts at honda!:) and i looked i have the bridgestone ecedras. wierd. he may have been referring to the tires he bought for the 6 wheeler he traded me as well. damned if they might be the originals. they look like new but then again i think the whole bike looks new. probly should be in a museum eh?
any paint codes for the frame? the silver color or will aluminum spray paint match? got a couple teeny spots where starting to see some rust i want to nip in the butt before it gets worse. gonna call my local parts house to see about gettin the blue paint mixed up unless someone knows where to gety it in either touch up vials or spray cans? forgot to ask the honda dealer when i was there today!

MOST IMPORTANT!! Please do this. Check the date code on the tires. If it is a three digit number DO NOT ride on those tires. I had original tires on a very low mileage 99 Ford Taurus I bought last year and without any warning at all the entire sidewall blew out at highway speed. The tires did not look weather checked at all and had almost 100% tread.
On a bike that kind of failure would be about as bad as it gets. On top of the blowout risk, the rubber compound will be so hard that the rear brake locks just looking at the lever and the wet weather traction is like running race slicks.

If you have the likes of Halfords over there they made me up a tin of spray paint and they directly matched it with the honda colour code, only cost me 20 euro

not sure what a halfords is? i was gonna try a local auto parts store that mixes paint. dont know if they have bike codes in the computer or not. worth a shot. waiting to see if someone knows what the silver frame paint code is so can get it all at once. anyone know that? so.....clark, u tryin to scare the crap out of me on the tires?
u r talkin car tires rnt u? wouldnt they tell u about a recall notice or somethin? u think i should be worried about my tires because of age or a defect of some sorts? it sounds like it spent most of its life on jack stands in heated garage and they look like new like the rest of the bike. probly should be in a museum!:) r my tires worth anything to a collector? i dont really need them or care about them bein the original tires so if someone u think might be interested in owning an original set i could sell them to help the cause!:)

Scott
I am trying to scare you enough to look at the tires and find out how old they are. If they are more than ten years old and have a 3 digit date code as opposed to a 4 digit date code, DO NOT RIDE ON THEM. Ten year or more old tires are not safe even if they look like brand new. My bike had the original tires when I got it and they had been stored like yours in a heated garage. The tires are in bags in my basement and look brand new. They are not safe.
As far as the car tires, I am just relating what happened to me. Ten year old tires that looked brand new with no visible weather checking or cracking. I am careful to keep them at proper pressure because I commute over 60 miles each way daily. One of those tires failed without any warning. Rubber degrades with time. Racing tires are considered useless if more than two years old. Street tires lose much of their grip after about 3-4 yrs and ten yr old tires are hazardous.

Any kind of synthetic fibre is going to degrade over time, even if those tires had been sitting on a shop shelf for the last ten years in the best of conditions you still wouldn't be able to ride on them. you'r ehelmet is the same way, even if you got a helmet and didn't wear it for five years kept it in perfect conditions if you wore it after 5 years it would have the same affect as a leather skull cap if you came off!!! take the safer route and just buy new tires. they're the first thing i replace on a new bike even if they are claimed to be brand new, they're too much of a safety feture to take a risk on!

I agree with 91cb-1. I found out 2 yrs ago that helmets have "born on dates" in them. I was going to do a private track day and a guy brought this up to me. When I found the date on my HJC, it was 6 yrs old! They do not let anyone ride with a hemet that is older than 5 yrs. When buying a helmet, ALWAYS check the "born on date". I know sometimes there are really nice sales on helmets, but they never tell you what the "born on" date is
