What do you have on the rear? Be wary of mixing tire types, radials and bias ply or even brands. Incompatible front and rear can make the handling diabolical. That being said, you got a smoking good deal on that tire.

THANKS! i really hope they honor my order and/or don't send me junk. I'm in the process of re-hauling the bike so Right now it's got an old BT-45 from 1997...I won't be riding the bike hard until i get a matching rear of course...just taking my time with the rebuild and trying to save wherever i can. xstreamcanadian - yes these tires are very sticky and great for spirited riding and even some track.. they are normally around ~$100 for just the front. This particular vendor doesn't have a matching rear at a cheap price but you should be able to get one elsewhere for about 120 bucks... even without savings on a matching rear.. a set of bt016's for under 200 bux is a deal IMO. i'll probably get the rear from SW moto tire http://www.swmototires.com/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.tpl&product_id=96&category_id=109&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=53

The BT016 is a great tire. Some of the group I ride with use them for both street and track days with very good results. I was considering using them as a replacement for my Pirelli Diablo' s but I wanted to get away from the 150/60-17 size and use the original 140/70-17. I was very happy with the Pirelli's for most of their life but as the rear began to develop a flat spot in the center there was a distinct uncomfortable feeling of riding "over the bump" on corner turn-in. I think partially due to the slightly different profile of the 60 series. For this reason I went with the Bridgestone BT003 in the 140/70 size. I know that tire life with these will not be great but I don't do a lot of miles so it is not a huge concern. Word of warning about the BT016's!!! DO NOT get too enthusiastic with your riding when they are brand new. You need to get the skin off them before doing any full throttle knee dragging. Several people I know have stepped off their bikes on trackday warm-up laps with new Bridgestone BT016's or 014's.

do they not have a rear tire available that is a 70 series to match the front? I want to go as wide as possible on the rear as well

never really did have the guts to do much cornering in the rain on ANY tire, so can't comment on that. i think the best rear option on BT016 would be 150/60/17....some of the guys on here race on them...so they can't be half bad

I find it odd that they would want to race on a 60 on the rear and a 70 on the front. the bike is already pretty low to the ground, is there a reason that this is preferable or is the lower profile due to the extra width.
I thank you in advance for your comments

The 150/60-17 and the 140/70-17 are almost exactly the same diameter so no lowering or raising of the bike is found. The 150\60 is designed to be used on a wider rim than the 140/70 so when you put it on the CB-1 rim the profile of the tire is not at it's optimum. As a race tire it MAY provide more ultimate grip all else being equal but I suspect that on a stock CB-1 rim the 140 tire would be more comfortable to ride. That is my experience.
There used to be no extremely grippy modern construction (two or three compound) tire in the 140/70 size so everyone who valued grip above tire life had to go to the 150/60 hence most racers using that range will tell you that they use the 150. There are now several DOT race/street tires available in the 140 size. I am now using one of them and I will not go back to the 150, especially as a street tire.
Not having ridden on the Bridgestone BT016 or 014 in the 150 size I can't comment on how the bike will respond to them but changing from the 150/60 Pirelli Diablo's to the 140/70 BT003 has convinced me to stay with the narrower tire. The turn-in characteristics are just soooo much more confidence inspiring and the ultimate grip is every bit as good as the wider Pirelli.

and what about the older tires? i think my bike may have stock tires on her, they look fine, but I would never ride on them. I may keep them for selling with it.
