Right ya i get ya. cool well this is all goin onto my desktop and come next feb/march when i can afford an other hack it'll eventually get done

If you choose to use the CBR600 F3 engine you will have to do the following:
1. Fabricate new front motor mount.
2. Fabricate new rear motor mount.
3. New motor mount from back of cylinder head to section of frame where the original coils bolt on. Four pieces, two made of steel, welded to the frame. Two aluminium to bolt between the frame and engine.
4. Machine the sprocket carrier to get the front and rear sprockets lined up somewhat close.
5. Machine the front sprocket to finsih step 4.
6. Raise the tank and move it backwards about 1/2" to clear the F3 Airbox. Drill new holes in the tank to match the rear mount and use the existing hole in the front, with a well nut.
7. Cut out the dimpled portion of the CB1 airbox and weld that into the lid of the F3 airbox that you already lowered 10 mm by cutting a segment out and gluing/ welding it all back together.
8. Move the seat back about a quarter inch, after removing a quarter inch from the front and the rear to clear the relocated fuel tank and the tail section in the back, by relocating the seat lock     mechanism. Recover seat.
9. Find and adapt exhaust to engine and frame.
10. Move coils to behind steering head ( F3 location ) Remove stock thermostat housing and radiator filler neck.
11. Get 600 Hornet radiator and hoses and make mounts for radiator.

These ar just a couple of notes to illustrate what it takes to do it right.
Another option would be to just install a 600 Huuricane engine.....

why replace the cb-1 engine? it's what make the -1 unique and bullet proof! cam gears, engine that revs to 13,500 rpm, practically bullet proof easy to maintain, what more do you want?

No the point i was makin was with replacing the hurricane engine i'd have to change air box etc to the hurricane or would it be that similar that i could just swap engine and carbs?

The point is not to detract from the cb-1 the point is to have a cb-1 400 and a cb-1 600 having both means you can't lose!!! Grin

The point is not to detract from the cb-1 the point is to have a cb-1 400 and a cb-1 600 having both means you can't lose!!! Grin

It's been about 20 years since I've been under the tank of a Hurricane so I don't remember what the airbox looks like but it's got to be easier than cramming an F3 airbox in there.

The point about more power is just that, more power. The Hurricane or F3 engine is no less reliable than the CB-1. Also, my F3 will spin to 13,500 with no problem, it just makes 94 rwhp at that point.
