So after a few years away from the CB-1, I have had an XJ600S, two Fireblades (96+98) and now have a 98 955i Daytona.

Thing is, I have a real hankering for a CB-1. I still regret selling mine, to this day. I miss the cheap running costs, I miss the feeling that I could wring 100% from the bike and still be within my depth (this is just not possible on the 900s I have had in the last few years!!), I miss the simplicity of it - I just miss the CB-1.

So what I would like, is a CB-1, please. Cheap. Doesn't matter if it is rough around the edges, no t+t,or needs tyres soon, etc. As long as it starts, and runs well, I would consider it. I would quite like a project CB-1.

Must be pretty close to Portsmouth, England.

What have you got?

Hi Ted,

super-pleased that the engine worked out well for you. I remember when you came to get it, it was a complete unknown but hey at least it was free Smiley

N. Yorks is unfortunately a lot too far from Portsmouth! Glad to hear it'll be got running again though.

Shame you're so far away Morti, you could make me an offer on my blue one. It's actualy my sons now but he hasn't ridden it much since we cam off the Beemer years ago. I still ride it and if it's "rough around the edges" your after it's perfect Grin. He keeps asking about selling it but I tell him it's not worth it. If it did go though, it might give me a kick up the arse to get the other one finished. Embarrassed

It's not that far mate. I have friends in St Albans and Bicester, so I could easily train up and break the return journey into two if it's taxed and tested to ride back.

What you got? and how much?! You know it'd go to a good home! I was already scheming on fitting an RR swingarm and upping the brakes on whatever -1 I get.

I let a scrappy -1 slip that sold on eBay for £420 this morning. I felt it was that scruffy round that I wondered if it would be any good at all. £400, worth a punt. £450... might as well look for a better -1. But I emailed the chap and he wants "as close to the £800 it owes me as possible", which is a bit out of my range since I don't really want to sell the Triumph until the season is in sight. Shame, as it's a nice bike.

I must admit that since it wasn't slippery this morning I let a little of the 955i loose. Felt good, but I had to break her stride so far within capacity it's ridiculous.

Glad to hear your looking at getting another -1 Amorti, we all knew it was only going to be a matter of time!  I have been a similar path to you with fireblades, but I didnt sell mine.  Instead it has slowly (read very very very) been stripped and rebuilt over the last 3 years and is now finally almost finished.  My sin to confess is that I have kind of gone to the other side in that I have been spending more time on my Bros!  Undecided  Anyway i thought id post a photo of both as I'm here now.

Nice bikes! Is the Bros the 400 or 650?  Here in the States it was called the Hawk and it was the 650 twin.

650!  Although the Bros and Hawk look very similar there are a whole host of differences, ranging from gearing to better brake calipers.  Although if you look closely you may see mines is not quite standard!!!! Wink

i was going to say, i know here in ireland the bros 650is somewhat of a rare bike, you'll more likely get the NTV 650 which  is just an older model of the bros i know. i did see a very well done bros 400 frame with an africa twin 750 engine in it, went like hell  and dive bombed into corners. lovely thing but the guy who was driving it was about 6 foot 6 and had his knees around his head on it, looked very funny, good driver though

Got a CB-1 to sell then?  Wink

I've plonked a silly starting bid on this but unless I get really lucky, I probably can't afford it.

I think he wants about 400 for it but if you can get the last one for it's start price, you'd be much better off. Ours runs well but really needs a good refurb. It's had a couple of winters under it's belt and the frame is starting to look a bit rough. Swingarm is the same. It's still got one black fork leg and a silver one after you let me have that one to replace the bust one. Grin
