frame sliders ie crash bungs? check out these fellas on ebay, these are the crash bobbins i use on mine the only thing is you have to get longer engin mounting bolts, i forget exactly what the measurements are but these have saved my crank case so many times in the last year i don't want to think about it!

Umm, have you ever thought about maybe not crashing as a way of saving the cases? Grin

Also seem to be missing a link in your post.

Hi - does anyone mind if I resurrect this thread?  Smiley

I've been wanting to add frame sliders but have been unsure where the best place is to mount them.  I see where ptlcb1 mounted his in this post.

Any specific recommendations for the sliders themselves? Best bang for your buck?

...or...

Are crash bars better?

They seemed to be passe, but are now making a comeback, particularly in "stunterz" circles...?

I found a post from clarkdw about Jama bars and understand they're out of production and hard to find.

Finally - I recently found a very odd ebay listing for these crash bars.  I don't quite see how they'd mount....?

The bike I just stripped had crash bungs fitted to the rear bolt on the front infills to protect the frame. They're for sale if anyone is still looking.

TC, that part just protects the clocks, it attaches by the 4 bolts for the headlight brackets.

You can use universal crag bungs, just need some with the right length fine thread M10 cap bolts. Can't help you on the length but know it is possible!

Hmm - that is an interesting location: it looks like that would also be effective for protecting the tank.

(Hands up - who has a dent on the side of their tank?  Wink )

The lower frame location that ptlcb1 uses looks most effective for protecting the engine casings, which is my primary concern.

Perhaps both?

Can't quite picture it, but it looks massively over-engineered for that.  Huh  However, if you're going for the Mad Max look.....

OK, the standard bolt is M10 x 120 flanged with a flanged nut on the back.  I'll see what I can find for good deals on the sliders and report back  Smiley

Youll say that about the clocks frame until you drop it and have to try and find clocks!

Careful to get the overall length right as you wouldn't want them digging in on a nice long bend!!

Drew, I'll take the bungs off you matey assuming you've still got the bolts too (I wish I'd looked properly, you could have sent them with the infills!)
Thanks, Phil.

Cheers, Drew.
