Hey Guys,

Am new to the forum and came upon it looking for cb1 400 reviews as have found one to buy in London.

Have had a quick look through and didn't see a similar thread so am posting to gain your valuable advice & thoughts on what specifically i should b looking for with this model.

The faring is dark blue with the original CB-1 stenciling but the tail is in honda red (is this a standard scheme or mix & match?). She's a mid/late eighties girl with 76k miles under her belt and seems to be in good nick. new fork & fork seals, with Nearly new chain / sprockets and decent rubber...

... Any advice on checking her over before purchase gratefully received as I'm not that mechanically clued-up (yet!) but also what you would expect to pay for one too.

Cheers all!
Ozy

If it runs ok there isnt much else to look for, except maybe the swingarm for fresh acid corrosion from the battery. The stock regulators go bad on these bikes and fry the battery, which in turn dumps acid out on the swingarm (a new regulator from Honda fixes this problem). Are the tires cracked from age? With that many miles on it I bet the regulator has already been replaced. Looks like a real street warrior, that bike.

How much is it worth? Well, I'm not sure on the exchange rate between the US (I'm in the US), but I wouldn't pay more than $1000 for it. But I'm sure the London market is totally different that it is here in the US. Anyone else in his area know what these sell for?

Let us know how it goes!

I paid £999 for my CB1 from a dealer about 6 Months ago.

I would say check the rear the brake hoses as mine my rear brake hose was rubber and had perished.
It Simply bulged when I applied the brake instead of slowing down.  I bought a new brand new steel braided one for about £18.
