CB1_Boost's mechanic has said that it just needs rings on three cylinders. I would assume from that his cylinders are not bad enough to need a rebore and new pistons. You MIGHT find a piston with the same bore, deck height, wristpin size, etc but it is very unlikely to have the same crown shape (dome) as the CB-1. If a rebore was needed it would be better to look around for a set of barrels in better shape and again go with just new rings. There are a few of them listed on ebay.

But as I said, so far, all he needs is rings so better to just do that.

Another alternative if really needed is to knurl the pistons as rebuilders did as very common practice years ago but it is not a great fix as the life is certainly not what new pistons will give.

 Wink
well here's a lucky find for you:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honda-CB-1-CB-CB400F-CB1-Piston-Rings-Kit-Set-1989-/110666867008?pt=Motorcycles_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c4426140

keep an eye on that, and a least part of your problem might be solved.

Good stuff Clark.  Appreciate the offer.  And my pistons should be good, but thanks for looking.

After looking up the parts I need, I can order them all except the 6 Valve Guides.  Honda has discontinued the guides.

Anyone know of an aftermarket parts supplier that may have the valve guides??   Huh

It is very very likely that another Honda valve guide will serve as a substitute. It MIGHT require a small bit of machining but not likely. I will try and figure out one which will work and post it.

I'll take any help I can get at this point.  Worst case, I'll have to put her back together and just ride.   Lips Sealed

Honda pt no. 12204KY2305

http://www.econohonda.co.nz/index.html

parts@econohonda.com

They have according to their inventory 6  "count em, six" of the guides you need.

The internet is a wonderful thing. The guides only have to come from New Zealand. Grin

BIG thanks to Clarkdw for finding the parts.   Smiley

Ran into another issue with having the right size "reamer" or tool to cut the valve guides.

Anyone know what size (in millimeters) reamer the machine shop will need to cut the guides?

Update:  Looks like I might have to put the bike together not changing the valves and the guides.  After all the trouble of looking for parts.  No one in town seems to have the right size tool to cut the guides to be put in the head.  I'll just have the take the loss on the parts I bought and painstakingly found.    Lips Sealed  Hopefully it will still run well enough so I can ride the -1.   Undecided
