i used a fox twin clicker shock for a hawk gt.  any length adjustable shock would be good i figure.  i had to extend the line for the reservoir and fit a 1200# spring.  i didnt have the valving changed but it could probably use it.  the lower mount is a billet piece that bolts into the stock hawks lower mount, then the shock bolts to it.  its a riser similar to the cb-1's stock swinger.  as for chain length, its just longer but i cant recall by how much.  id check but i wont be seeing the bike till this weekend.

Did you have to get the billet piece specially made or did you find one somewhere? It is frustrating the life out of me that I can't do anything at the moment.

As you can see from the pics, I need to get that rear suspension sorted before I can touch anything else!   Undecided

lol, get that battery out of your way!  whats your shock from?  if i were you, id make a prototype from a block of wood or some other material you can work with then take that to a machinist and have him copy it in alu.  or make a sketch with the dimensions you require.  maybe find the machinist first and ask what he would prefer.

Lol yeah I guess I should take it off as it's not doing anything at the mo. The shock is stock as far as I can tell. Though I will probably have to get a new one for the new setup. Sounds like a plan with regards to the billet piece. I think I'll start that first thing tomorrow.

you may want to wait till you have the shock you know you're going to use.  youll also need a large spacer made to fit between the front forks of the swingarm where the bolt goes through.  id get the shock youll ultimately use, find a machinist willing to do the job, ask him how he'd like the model, then go home and mock it up till youre confidant and take it back to him for the real thing.
