So ladies and gents broke my choke cable today, no big deal have fixed somethin up to do me till i get a new one. however when i was putting back on the lower part of the airbox my da who was just lookin over my shoulder whilst workin on his own bike commented very casually; "I hope your not leaving that nut there!" i look down and sure enough the nut from the choke cable had fallen into carb two on the left side, would have put a serious spanner in the works trying to get into work tomorrow, so just in future if taking off the Air box make sure when your putting it back on to do a quick check to make sure nothing is in your carbs befor you close it all up and blow the shit outda your engine. maybe a rookie mistake but all the same

I've been on a group ride where I was on a fireblade and the leader was on a GSA, trust me they are a damn sight better than a Harley! Not to mention nigh on 400 mile tank ranges.

Listen morti you don't have to justify anything to me, my context was in Ireland, his bike is one of the old RS 100's, it's ugly as sin all bm's are they cant get away from that it's just german efficiency. They may look beter than a harley but my point was that here in ireland especially the gs  is frickin useless and the majority of the bikes you see on the road here are GS's there are no dunes or deserts, just shitty roads and bad traffic and to be honest if you want a bike to beat those conditionbs buy a peugot scooter you'll get much much much better MPG than any bike. my first bike was a 100cc 2 stroke with a cracked sump and i never changed the oil, was the best bike ever for town, spend 15 euro a forthnight on petrol and 2 stroke oil and had the best time for getting into work in town 13 km's from home ever. don't try justifying bmw gs's to me. if you want to do a cross thailand or batswanna don't follow eughan and charlies ill concieved advice, buy a fuckin african twin for 1/8 the price and hey look you have a bike you can actually have fun on too!

I've only ever had one BMW, an R80ST that, until I took it over, had been sitting unused in my mates garage for 15 years. Gotta admit that I was pretty impressed with it's overall performance - not exactly lightening fast but what it lost in speed, it made up for in handling, and it's the only bike that I've enjoyed riding in snowy conditions. before owning that one, I had a fairly low opinion of Beemers in general but they're the sort of bikes that growe on you. 'Been promising myself an R1100S for about the last four years Roll Eyes
