1989 CB-1 For Sale

I am selling this bike for a friend. She bought the bike with our help, we taught her how to ride on it, and she has decided to move on to something a bit more modern, so I am assisting her with the sale by listing it here. She does have all the paperwork/pink slip and it will be signed over to you at the time of the sale. I am available to show the bike and will set up a meeting to finalize transfer of the title when a buyer is found. Bike is registered until July of 2011.

Bike is a CB-1 400/4
It has been updated with a CBR F2 front end (forks, dual disc front wheel & fender) as well as an improved rear shock with remote reservoir, and Sudco pipe
As a result of both the rearshock and front forks, the bike stands slightly higher than a stock CB-1, and to facilitate our friend learning, we dropped the front end slightly, as shown in close up of the top triple, but this can be easily modified back to a higher setting. All electrics work perfectly, it has a brand new battery purchased when our friend started riding it last summer, which has been maintained on a battery tender, and it has both the side stand and center stand.

The tank has sizable dent on one side which it received before our friend purchased it and the front brake lever is slightly bent from a previous owner. Frame covers at the steering column are missing.

The bike currently has 45,000 miles and runs quite strong. As with many CB-1s, this bike is a tad bit finicky when cold and hesitates slightly until fully warmed up. Bike was taken to the track by the previous owner, tires show this. Front tire in great shape still, rear tire getting a tad low on tread.

Asking $2100.
Bike is in San Francisco.

Hi Evol,

I have an 89 CB1 that I recently purchased and it came with only the side stand.  I purchased the center stand but looks like I may not have the mounting bracket I need to install.  Is there any possibility that you can take a photos of where the stand mounts to the frame to help me out?  Or if you know what I might need in order to mount that would be great.  I am in San Rafael and could come to see if the bike if that works better.
Thanks in advance for any help,
Jorge

Jorge,

why don't you take a pic of your bike and we can see if it's missing any bracketry?

Seems to me your friend is looking for a lot of money for a bike that is missing quite a few bits, damaged and has been modded. not only are you missing the front frame guards you are also missing the tank rubbers which anyone will tell you are like gold dust. i bought my current cb-1 for €500 and it was in better condition and had half the miles on it than the one you are trying to sell. Tell your friend to lower the price if she wants to make any head way

Already sold, saw it on Barf forum. Being from the Bay Area, I'll tell you that the bike is just about worth the asking price, in my opinion.

Bike was sold a week ago, just getting around to posting up.
Sorry I can't snap shots for you, Jorge.

We also sold our near perfect bone stock CB-1 a couple weeks prior to selling this one, so we are now CB-1-less. After a decade of ownership and having taken one of them all over the country!
