Thought I would try my bike out after sorting out fuel leak (Float Bowl Gasket flat and not sealing) and freeing of rear brake master cylinder. Still have to sort tyres out - Loads of Tread Dunlop Arrowmax, unfortunately the previous owner took the usual Thai way for maintenance because he couldnt be bothered to order correct tyres from Bangkok he fitted Tubed tyres instead of tubeless, that wouldnt have been so bad if he had actually put tubes in, no we make fit, just put lots of rubber solution round rim. You need 140/70x17 rear this 130/70x17 will fit no problem.
Any way back to my little test run, set off, bike running great, stopped at traffic lights. Several Thais were pointing at my bike, yes looks good doesnt it, You on Fire they say, no just a bit of smoke I think, better pull to side of road and check anyway.
F!!!!!! Me theres flames under seat.
Much fumbling with seat managed to get off loads of flames & melting rubber, luckily a nice Thai Man with a bucket of water came running accross road and poured water on it and managed to put it out.
After pushing bike on way home another nice Thai Man who owned a small Motorbike repair shop came to my rescue and took the tank of and removed the melted parts (Fuel Pump, Fuel Pump Cut Off Relay, Turn signal Relay, all connectors to them and the loom from them across to right side of bike) He then reconnected fuel pipe from tank direct to Carbs and said drive it slowly home.
Bike seemed to run ok so I drove slowly 80km/h. This obviously wasnt slow enough as half way home engine stopped so left it with petrol tap on and had some lunch at cafe.
Bike started up ok so drove rest of way home slowly in 2nd gear.
Parked bike up, turned petrol tap off and went in house. Came out of house a bit later, strong smell of petrol! Looked at bike petrol pouring out on drive.
Tap does not have a detent at the on/off/res points and although tap appeared off it wasnt and fuel hose now has nice split in it.
Not my day I'm affraid.
Anyone have any of the bits I need and willing to post to Thailand.
I can get new Fuel Pump from Wemoto in UK for £172 plus shipping less VAT
That will teach me to wire in power supply for GPS, wire was streached a bit tight and I think it shorted out and tarted fire

Ah man, that sucks.

From this you should mainly learn to wire any accessories in with a fuse as near to the battery as possible.

Greg (CB-1 Rocket) has a fuel pump, I think.

It had an in line fuse right next to battery with fuse that came with it. Fuse didnt blow.
Think it was the 5V output side that wore through although would have thought that should have been protected within the unit. Only assuming it was that, but cant see anything else that it could have been.
Difficult to tell if it was the cause or a result as all wires around that area including battery earth were melted

that's terrible!i'm glad you are ok&bike didn't go up in flames completely!
fuel pump is one of those VERY VERY HARD TO FIND parts on the 1.
as you said,wemoto have the for £172 new(ouch!!)
the HONDA NTV uses the same pump as far as i know,there is a few on ebay here:

Apart from pipes already pm'd about to you just need fuel pump, fuel pump cut off relay, flasher unit, and connecters to all the above & ideally part of loom from all these to right side of bike. Have flasher relay connector but a bit burnt but may still work. All rest melted. Not certain but think terminals are standard spade size so could possibly manage with crimp or solder connectors at a push. And could possibly use 7 core trailer board wire for loom. I have cb1 service manual so that gives me wiring diagram.

Update on my disaster.
Just got bike back together. Loom complete with flasher relay and fuel cut off relay from e bay UK £20 + fuel pump from eBay UK £35 posted from UK by son & arrived this week. Had to bolt a base to battery box (old perspex number plate cut to fit) as it had partially melted. Discovered when charging battery it is now porous and was leaking so new battery bought in pattaya together with new positive terminal that I clamped up in vise and soldered. Cut out required bit of loom and solder jointed and heat shrink insulated. Currently has old fuel filter and rubber mounts for filter & pump and old pipes except for one from tank to filter as it was burnt & kept splitting. Had to use straight pipe and bend it, fuel seems to get through and engine runs so will do till new filter, pipes,& mounts come from japan (that's another story)
