Okay guys, so I picked up a CB1 for a steal with the original intention of restoring it for the girlfriend, but we've decided the money would be better spent on the new house. So I'm likely going to be listing it for sale locally on some classifieds, but I need some help appraising the value of the bike. I apologize, as I have no pics, but I can give you all the details.

-1989 CB-1
-42,000kms
-Starts & Runs perfectly
-Brand new battery, air filter, spark plugs, fuel filter, fresh oil change
-All stock pieces are present - no missing tank bushings, bolt covers, or anything - it's all there
-Chain was removed and thoroughly cleaned - still in spec
-All controls, lighting, electronics in perfect working condition.
-No modifications have been made to the bike... It is bone stock!

Things wrong with the bike:

-Small dent (dime sized) on tank near right inner thigh
-Clear coat is fairly faded
-Horn has seen better days.
-Needs new rear tire
-Slightly scratched clutch cover - damn plastic

Based on the above what would you guys estimate the value of the bike to be?  I already have several Honda collectors interested in the bike, and they haven't even seen it yet... If I decide to sell, I need to know a starting point.

Thanks for any help in advance!

Where do you live? It can make a difference of close to 100% in the price of a CB-1.

I'm located in Burlington, Ontario....

Right now the bike is stored at my buddies house, as he has 5 times the garage space... I keep forgetting to take pics whenever I'm there.

Im beginning to think the $1800 range would be about right... I`ll get some pics tomorrow night

Clarkdw: The bike is actually stored in Caledonia... not  too far from you... You sure you don`t need another?  LOL

I think at $1800 you have set the price well. You should not negotiate down much from that.

I dearly wish that I could buy it from you. It would make a fantastic track bike. Unfortunately I suspect that mine will be for sale soon as well. My avatar dog is most likely going for cruciate ligament surgery soon and the cost will eat up much of the sale price of my bike.

Good luck with the sale and the house purchase. A compromise most worthwhile.

Finally got to take a few crappy phone pics... Turns out the bike isn't charging properly though, which I will use this great forum to diagnose Wink

Lastly, I ran some SeaFoam through the carbs, and gas tank this evening.... seemed to smooth things out quite nicely.
