Looks nice. Smiley
How did you make out with fitting the original cables? Were they long enough or did you have to replace some with longer?

The cables work after some time spent re routing. The kit comes with a new FT brake hose. As previously posted somewhere on the the board, these type kits could use longer cables to make it a perfect fit. However, with the routing that I did, I have no issues. The only thing that I am working on is the controls are not as tight as I would like. The kit gets you to remove the aligning posts, so they don't clamp down tight.

The ride posture for me is absolutely perfect, I'm new to this bike and I now really like this bike.

Any time I have changed handlebars (and there have been a few!!) I have always gone for redrilling the new bar to make it fit with the original locating pin. If you have modified the LHS though it's irreversible, which is a shame.

It's funny how it takes all sorts - for me the CB-1 with a "mandlebar" is just a bit wrong, I found the whole plot too cramped and on longer jounreys too much pressure straight down through my spine.

It's great to be different, I am exactly opposite, when I first bought the CB1 (my first street bike) I had wrist aches and neck spasms from the posture. As I rode yesterday on my "new setup", I actually had visions of taking a longer trip knowing that I would not be sore at the end. I might be the odd man out, but decades of riding off road bikes and Atv's has me conditioned to this type of posture.

I am however extremely happy and proud to own such a unique bike and with a few mods from stock it's is a dream for me. Hands down the best money I've ever spent on a Mod, highly recommend this kit to anyone who has a posture issue like I had. In Canada we have a limited selection of 400cc and lower bikes, so to find a mint 1989 CB1 has been a goldmine.

I'm suprised to hear that anyone actually has their origional locating pins in their control units, i've had to replace mine twice on each control and i've only had the bike for two years. fair doux. If you are haveing a problem with the controles moving then an old bicycle tyre over the bar and under the the controles gives some good grip. A lil super glue helps aswell

Did the inner tube trick and it's ok for now, will use a silicone or epoxy to secure the controls.

Will get more seat time tomorrow to conform bar position. I have made some position adjustments and believe I'm at my final position before I glue controls in place.

I'm really glad I did the conversion.

I finally did my handlebar conversion yesterday to (well my mate did it.. haha)

Now have a CB Super Four top yoke with black renthals and it looks mean as fuck, i love it, I.m 6'1" and felt so cramped with the clip ons and to be honest it was starting to annoy me!! Juts re-routed the cables under the tank and pulled some of the slack off the cables in the head light bowl out to make it all fit. drilling out for the locator pins was awkward but he got it all done nice in the end.

Went for a ride yesterday with the new set up and absolutely loved it, sooooo much nicer for me to ride, didn't wanna get off it, feels like a totally different bike!! Really happy with it wish I had changed it sooner..

Also got a new front caliper on with a HEL stainless brake line which works really good.
