Hello All,

After a break from biking for the last 5 years my brother in law recently bought his son a scooter. After a little test ride to see what it was like it sparked the bug in me again. Two weeks later and I'm the owner of a CB-1  Cheesy

The 30 mile trip home after picking it up was mainly spent getting used to being back on a bike.I'd almost forgot how much fun they are.I used to own a cbr400 nc23 and the engine on the CB-1 seems to rev even higher than that did.I did find it quite buzzy with a lot of vibration through the bars, is this normal for them?

I'll upload some pics shortly but its a blue one.Its a bit tatty but runs great and seems mechanically sound.

I've been scouring ebay as I need a new front mudguard as the one on there is cracked almost in half and could also do with a new tail piece as theres a chunk missing on the back of mine. The aluminium side panels are grotty on the one side ( can they be polished? ) and the alloy bits could do with a good buff.I hope to get all that sorted over winter.

I've been looking at some of the pics of everyones bike here and there are some stunning ones.I've been considering putting a different top yoke on so I can use Renthalls and wondered whether one from a 400 super four would fit, if so does it have to be from a specific year?

Many thanks. This seems a great site to be a member for me and my -1.

Steve.

I have just done this on my bike, I used a Super Four (1992) UK yoke that I bought off someone one here for £10, you will need to buy a longer braided front brake line though, I ordered mine from HEL brake lines and asked for a custom cb-1 400 with and extra 2" of length to make it fit.

I also re routed the cables from the right hand side under the petrol tank to give some extra slack and on the left hand side just freed the cable up a  bit from the head lamp bowl.

Best thing I ever did, been riding it non stop since I changed the bars

Welcome back to the world of motorcycling Steve. I'm sure you will love the CB-1.

Thanks for the welcome.

@ Bubba1982, thanks for confirming that m8.Also the info re: the brake cable. Is the clutch cable long enough or does that need to be longer? I think I read somewhere on here that someone used one from a vfr.

Thanks.

My clutch cable was long enough, I did cut down the Renthals about 8mm each side also

What do you mean with in reason, the cb-1 is not a reasonable bike, therefor all knowledge of it should not be reasonable. Welcome. Yes SF yokes will fit as will a lot of things from the sf, you will find. enjoy the site and enjoy the bike
