Hi all,

DadMorti is in need of a CB-1 headlight. Specifically just the rim, but the bowl is pretty minging too, so a full assembly would be considered.

What you got?

I believe Honda used the same headlight on the bros as well.  May help if you end up going the ebay route.  I was looking for one too, but ended up using a SV650 bucket, the SV is tad wider though, about 10mm +/-.

Have you thought about getting it rechromed? I've only ever managed to find one in good condition, used ones are usualy rusted up or worse. It'd be nice to get a replacement glass lens for it too, maybe a nice Cibie concave one. The OEM plastic ones may save weight but just don't seem right to me.

Are the USA lens' plastic?

Yes, the entire housing and the lens.

Ok, you have me confused now.  Just what exact part do you need?  Bikebandit.com's headlight diagram shows the chrome ring (available from Honda), the Stanley headlight (available) and the plastic bucket that holds everything (also available).  As far as being plastic, the actual headlamp has a glass lens and metal housing, with a replaceable H-4 halogen bulb.  If all you need is the chrome ring around the headlight, it costs about $40 US.  Only problem I see is if the parts are not available from Honda but still show as good on the website.

Hi Eric,

The Japanese model has a chromed steel body and ring, and a flat plastic lens. It's a completely different part to the US model.

On the bike in question, the rim has rotten out so bad that one of the three locating tabs has snapped off, and at least one of the others won't last long.

Part #3 on Bikebandit's parts diag is black painted steel. The chrome ring is part of the headlight unit and the #8 is directed exactly at it. The headlight unit has a plastic lens, not glass. Otherwise you are correct.
