so i finally got around to my storage building to check in on the -1 this year.  ive been keeping it 140 miles away from me and been too damn busy to get up to mess with it.  installed a new battery that it needed to go and she lit right up once i put the petcock to reserve.

blew the cobwebs out, some fresh gas and she sounded pretty crisp.  could only put one tank of gas through before i had to head back home but nice to know its ready.

the one thing that really stuck out though was how clean the oil was when i checked it.  its got about a 1000 miles on it from late last year and its still right up to the full line and is so clear it damn near looks new!  if i had a camera idve taken a pic.  never seen another motor that runs this clean and ive got over 30k on the bike now.  has anyone else noticed that their oil stays unusually clean?

Nope. Must be a sign that you have unusually good seals on the piston rings and valve stem seals. Nice!

hmm, was hoping others would say the same and i could attribute it to the higher than normal level of build quality that ive always thought the cb-1 benefited from.  either way ill take it!

The oil on mine always looked very clean. I suspect it has the most to do with not running the bike in short spurts never really letting it warm up properly. My car gets an oil change every 10k miles and the oil in it looks very close to what it looked like when it went in. My car gets driven 65 miles one way in my commute so has plenty of time to flash off the condensation every day.
