You'll have better luck just getting one reupholstered I would think. Quite a bit cheaper too.

The easily damaged tanks and seats are getting very, very rare. Japan if you are willing to pay the shipping or be prepared to watch ebay daily and bid generously. Good luck in the hunt.

David Silvers Spares in U.K. lists an OEM seat for $154 in stock.  I'd jump on it if my seat weren't in perfect condition.

Even if the shipping doubles the cost it is a bargain for a new one if their stock listing is correct

Anyone know if the CB400FM is the same configuration bike as the CB-1?  It appears that they are the same and the seat will fit.  David Silver Spares does have this seat in stock.

The FM is a 91 so that makes it the elusive Mk2 version. I would bet that it would fit but maybe one of our U.K. members who has actually seen one will chime in.

There are no structural differences between the two bikes, not that I noticed when riding one for an hour or so, but that was years ago.

I would say yes, it is definitely going to fit.

Since the Mk2 was a slightly more comfort-oriented machine (larger tank, higher clip-ons) you might even find that, if it's different at all, the new seat will have thicker cushioning.

My bet is that the availability will now change to NLA. You are very lucky to have struck on this. Enjoy!! I bought the last in the world AFAIK RHS mirror from cmsnl some time ago and the availability went from yes to no.

If anyone's interested, according to the latest part book, there were actualy 4 different seats made throughout the entire range:-

77200-KAF-000
77200-KAF-700
77200-KAF-770 (possibly a superceeded No for "000")
77200-KAF-900

I'm guessing the material was different.

I have seen some with a white, and some with a black seat base. So that accounts for two of the numbers, I guess?

So, after I installed the David Silver Spares seat (with a black base, by the way), I noticed that, although it mounted perfectly, it seemed to be slightly more padded at the rear than my US version, actually sticking up about 1/2" where the seat meets the rear cowl.  If I hadn't had two CB-1s side-by-side, I never would have noticed.  So, if anyone needs a perfect, new seat, albeit a British version, I have one for sale for $150 plus shipping.

Interesting. What's the part number? It won't be a British one as the CB-1 was never officialy sold in the UK. I'm guessing it's off a MKII.
