What did you do to your -1 today?

As we all know, these bikes are getting old now, and require a bit of fettling to keep them running nicely. Not to mention there are modifications and repairs to be carried out periodically. Most of the little jobs we do are not really worthy of a whole thread to themselves, so we don't tell each other what we've been doing. Some of those jobs might be interesting, might be educational or might be funny, but we miss out as we tend to feel they are not worth a whole thread.
Let's have a thread where we share those trivial things, shall we? I'll start.
Recently I had noticed the brakes getting a little bit stiff on my -1. You know how when you pull up at the lights and it just doesn't want to roll back and forth easily? It was doing that.
So on the cold and windy Wednesday afternoon just gone I spent a good 30-40 minutes with a bucket of water and can of brake cleaner tidying up both 4-pot front calipers. They were a bit mucky, but nothing too bad. Fitted them back on, was pleased with the extra "bite" at the lever, and then ran inside without a proper test of it, cos it was bloody cold.
Turns out it's the back brake locking on
Here's a gratuitous photo of my lovely brakes, with nice shiny Stainless Steel fittings recently fitted. I like the shouldered half bolts, but would rather find something better for the mounting bolts, and will get around to spraying the fork lowers eventually.

Mine has just passed it's MoT, just had to replace the front wheel bearings which I probably wouldn't have attempted 12 months ago, but then I was riding an 09 plate 125. I do so enjoy the satisfaction of attempting a job and seeing it through to completion, got some nice comments off the mechanic too who has rebuilt 2 CB-1's, one for his wife. Got the carbs balanced while it was there too, she's running like a dream now!

I added bar end mirrors finally to my -1 and gave the paint job a good once over with a swirl remover, which did an amazing job of "freshening up" my paint. Tomorrow if the parts arrive it will be new chain, sprockets and rear wheel bearings.

I'm working on adapting what I think is a CB400SF Japanese Beet stainless exhaust system to my -1. The exhaust came with the bike when I bought it but has never been installed. I was told it was for a CB400 but a different model so some modifications would be required. Upon initial trial-fitting, I discovered the midpipe is too long and angled wrong. However, the headers/collector fit perfectly. I've cut the midpipe and with the installation of a shallow S-bend pipe I will be able to connect the can and the collector. Just waiting for the bends to arrive so I can cut/trim/tack/fit/weld the sections together. Should sound pretty awesome since the Beet muffler has very open flow through. Fortunately, my stock exhaust is in perfect condition so I can always go back to stock if I wish. Will post pics and sound clip when the job is done.

I got a yoshi exhaust from my brothers super four, again same issue the pipe's too long but i got it on with a hanger, someone made it into a stubby and destroyed the nice sound that you get from yoshi's. the only mod i had to do was remove the custom rear sets i had on it to fit the mid pipe.

Replaced the battery and all is well again. When I shook the old battery you could hear something rattling around inside. Probably broke a connecting link inside causing the instant failure.

Attached my broken rear turn signal with a wood screw until I pick out replacement signals I like
Or were you looking for something where we actually do something nice for our bikes

Tidied under the fuel tank today, managed to get hold of the illusive fuel pipe A-the one that goes from the tank to the filter brand new in packaging off ebay (£8.51 bargain!) and a spare fuel pump with the other pipe (fuel pipe c- the filter to the pump-£13.50) attached and in good condition, not perished like the originals were which both broke when I first replaced the fuel filter.
Also replaced the L/H side panel (the one by the fuel pump) for one that was in much better condition than mine (ebay £2.00!) the right hand panel isn't as tidy but lets face it, you can't see them both at the same time. Also replaced the two front panels with newer ones (acquired from Drewski) so she looks a little more loved than she did, and runs a bit smoother with the proper fuel pipes in place, I had used neoprene fuel pipe from wemoto which is much more flexible than normal fuel pipe, but it still kinked with the extreme bend between the fuel pump and filter.
I also replaced the bolt that holds the tank, (the bottom one by the shock) for an original Honda part and treated it to a new matching nut and rubbers. Now she just needs a good blast....hopefully tomorrow

Fitted nc23 camshafts and the 40/110 jets. Haven't ridden it yet but it did start and idle, which is nice.

Replace my silver Vortex clip-on bars with some really nice blue ones. Also replaced the custom exhaust system with a Sudco exhaust that I was fortunate to get. At idle, the Custom exhaust with the D&D can, has a deeper growl than the Sudco. What I like most about the Sudco is that it fits tighter to the bike underneath and it is MUCH lighter than the custom exhaust!
