Replacing throttle cables
«

Hi Guys! I was wondering if anyone can give me tips/pointers or even detailed instructions on how to replace my -1's throttle cables.. as part of my preventive maintenance, and not knowing the full history of the maintenance done by the previous owner, i feel that the cables have to be replaced so as to avoid future inconvenience of getting a broken or cut throttle cable when i'm on the road. I keep it well lubricated by the way, but i just want to be sure so i want to replace it.
Would appreciate any help. Thanks

Its straight forward to do with the exception of, will have to remove whole air filter housing, and to get at the push/pull it's easier if you re-lease the carbs from the intake rubbers, what I've done is to do away with the push close cable, the springs on the carb are strong enough to snap back the throttle if released,if re-placing with new use copper slip or another type of anti seize grease on all exposed threads, and don't over tighten right hand switch gear screws.

If they work then leave well enough alone. It is a relatively expensive job that is something you only do when the throttle becomes stiff. They normally get stiff long before they break anyway.
