I had sun-faded gauge faces and installed the overlays from www.newtacho.de as mentioned in this thread.

I didn't have too much difficulty with the process and believe the speedo and tach needles are in their original position -- when you remove the stopper pin, you can mark the position where the needle comes to rest.

However the temperature gauge is a different matter and I'm sure I screwed up - with a cold engine I turn on the ignition and the needle jumps to mid-range... Undecided

So I could just move it a few degrees but does anyone have a suggestion how I could make it accurate again?

P.S.  I have mixed feeling about the gauge faces: I got the black OEM0style ones and KM scale to convert my US-bike to Canadian measurements. (heh, Odometer is still in miles though Wink )  However, as Samuichris noted, they illuminate very poorly in the dark (the base material is opaque, not translucent, so the white markings don't allow much light through), and because the material is quite thick, the stopper pins are almost impossible to remount securely.

P.P.S.  That being said, I have a spare set of white kph ones that I'll sell for half price ($20). PM me if you're interested.

Take temp needle indicator off----just rest i ton top of the drive pin, turn on ignition wait 4 5 seconds then pin down the needle on cold reading............

This is also why I am looking into having blank clear plastic or nylon made, if you look from underneath the original Honda gauge face, you will see that it is overprinted in 3 stages, 1 black base with gaps for line and numeral illumination, 2nd block colour (red) under numerals and for line illumination, 3rd numbers and lines, when fitting new faces that are slightly off original dials calibration IE: KPH to MPH or visa versa, the overlay lines do not always line up with original printing lines, therefore illumination is poor.

OK, can you describe *exactly* where the needle lies?  (i.e. in the middle of the blue "C" block, or....)

Heh, or if someone can post a photograph it'll be worth a thousand words.

Thanks  Smiley

Alternative is to idle the bike till the fan comes on. That is about 2/3 scale. You may have an idea about where it comes on.
