I have my 89 CB1 for sale in Minnesota. Hasn't been run it 10 years. Long story short. I was replacing the battery 10 years ago and gas line cracked sparking fire. I stripped the bike to the frame and it sat in parts for almost 10 years. I put back together to find compression was low in 2 cylinders. I would rather sell whole, but would consider parting out. I only have a photo from before fire. I will try and get to the shop to get photos of it. I need to cut my losses and let it go. It has 15000 on the odometer, but it was raced a few years in the late 90's.

Hmmmm..... You use to race it back in the 90s...  Did you race against any other CB-1s back then???

It was raced in the late 90's / early 2000's, I didn't race it. Previous owner raced it....

I got my race bike from a guy in Minnesota.  The front fairing on your bike, looks just like mine.  The guy I got my 1 from had the mold, but sold it to someone before I bought the bike.  Yours also has the same solo race seat fairing as mine.  Interesting....   Grin

I bought the 89, you must have the 90. I helped make the mold for the front fairing. It was a father and son who raced the CB1's, (my neighbors)

Yes, I have the 90.  When I went to get the bike, the father was working somewhere in the south.  His son is who I dealt with.  When I got there, he had the bike out in the driveway, ready for me to ride.  If my memory is still good, I took a right out of the driveway, then another right onto a road that went up into some mountains.  It was a nice ride!  I got back, took care of business and loaded it up.  I talked with the father several times, and his son was a nice kid. I think he was just getting into motard racing.  George was their last name.  If they are still your neighbors, let him know that the CB-1 is still running strong!  Here is what it looks like now...

Where in MN? Any more details on the fire damage? Pics would be helpful but no rush.

Nice, I will show Ben the pic of your bike at lunch. He has mine at his shop. He owns the local Honda shop. I will get some pics of mine today. Thanks, Tim

I'm in Minneapolis. Can you post pix of the current state of the bike?

Here is a pic from before the shop dropped the motor out to tear it down. The tank was replaced with a 90 model year tank. The race tail is new ready for paint. New Michelins front and back.

This was from this morning at the shop. I couldn't get engine pics as the tech had it spread all over his workbench.

Are you having the shop diagnose the low compression issue? I'm interested. Send me a PM if you want to discuss.
