I have never tried, just painted an engine black. You can't go wrong with black, because black always matches well with black irrelevant of finish, manufacturer, etc. etc.

If it's for the crankcases, you will need to drop the engine and paint the whole thing anyway. So get whatever high-temp colour you find that's close enough.

If it's for the side cases, take them both off, and take them for powder coating. The coater will powder blast them for you.

Best idea is to drop the engine, paint the whole block, then take off the cases and send for coating, they will strip any overspray for you.

Not painting black as tank and plastics are black, not dropping engine, too lazy, but this frosts stuff looks the ticket.........but is the aluma blast gonna be as bright as the tetrasyl  crap, i don't want bright aluminum paint, i want something that looks similar to original, perhaps the detail  grey one ? or is that too grey ?

Ask frost for comparison swatches, always found them to be friendly and helpful, and a first class service to boot.

Also in the flyer catalogue  they send out to me every 6 months, on the page that details the aluminium paint -Aluma blast is a silvery grey,- Detail grey is like a dull battleship grey with a slight satin sheen, - Spray grey is very dark matt grey, as mentioned, ask or e-mail for a swatch or to be put on mailing list for flyers, the specialist paints are always in the flyers...........

Wonder how much that will cost you just to paint the engine.

Because I just dropped mine off at a paint shop in Dominican Republic to paint the whole bike including buffing out all the rusts (bikes get pretty rusty here with ocean wind).

They said they will charge me 500 US dollars so I got it down to like 470 USD.

RS Paints should be able to do the engine silver. I believe it's the same one on a lot of bikes from that period, CBR600 for eg.
