Hi just wondering if anyone has a spare alternator? Mine's looking knackered! Think I just need the windings part. Cheers, pete

Try Graeme France, he offered me one for £30 not so long ago.

Tips - very carefully (due to sharp edges) clean inside the flywheel when replacing alternator as there will be bits of melted copper there which will kill your next alternator. Also when fitted check the whole charging system thoroughly as the fault may have taken the regulator or battery with it / or a faulty battery or regulator may have killed your alternator. They are intricately interconnected! At least, clean the alternator and regulator plugs and battery terminals until all metal is shiny (terminals will pop out of blocks to clean) and fit back with silicon grease, then clean and put CPU heat paste on the back of your regulator. Consider an auxiliary earth off the main earth back to the battery. CB-1 charging system is marginal, these things will only help.

Thanks for the advice Morti, I've managed to source an alternator that will hopefully do the trick. Got a new rectifier and battery too so hopefully my charging woes may be behind me! Then just the headstock bearings and lots of other little bits! cheers, pete
