never laid a bike up over winter, might do if weather gets bad, whats best (in garage) drain carbs and tank ? battery out and trickled ?

I do battery out, hook up charger every week or so for few hrs. I start the bike using car battery every so often. Coming spring - battery in, old oil out, new oil in, have fun. Never failed. Lots of guys fill up tank to the brim, drain carbs dry, battery out, and leave sitting till spring. Both work.

i don't recommend starting it unless you plan to ride it to full warm before shutting off, lest you cause condensation in the exhaust.

Also, it's best to change the oil before winter, otherwise acids and the like that build up in the used oil won't have a chance to sit there all winter. In the marine industry, we always do an oil change in the Fall before winter layup.
