hi all

I'm new here and have strait away a problem:
the daughter in law bought a NC27, actually a nice bike but not quite my cup of tea as I ride triples.
anyway I'm having a good look over the bike and found a few faults.
the pilot screw from the left carb is seized, the tee piece (fuel) between carb 2 &3 has been glued to the carbs (for what ever reason....) by the PO.
where would be a good place to get parts from and what do I have to look out for (like changes and mods over the years)

Hi,

between CB-1s, amongst other bikes I also had a T595-shaped 955i. Nice looking bike but I never did gel with it.

The T-piece has a seal at either end, it is possible that it's started leaking here and the PO has bodged it back together. The piece only comes as an assembly with the T and both seals, but it's now NLA. If it bothers you I would open it up and get an O-ring elsewhere, it'll be something standard metric, but you must get a viton rubber o-ring to resist the fuel. If you are lucky it's the same size as the Triumph fuel spiggot O-ring, I have no idea.

The air screws can corrode in place. Once that happens you are in a bit of trouble as they will break easily. They too are NLA Sad

Sounds like it might be worth your trying to pick up a scrap set of carbs for spares?

the tee is broken, the pilot doesn't come out, so that is not good.
any idea where to get the parts?

my triples are Yamaha XS750

They are NLA , no longer available. Secondhand or nothing I'm afraid.

I've stripped a couple of sets of carbs and should have the parts you need. I'll check in the morning. If you can't get that air screw out, you'll need a new body I guess. Which T-piece do you need. top or bottom?

Drew.

Drew.

the pilot screw is of no.1, the fuel tee is no.9.
it would be good if you would have the parts.
please pm me.
thanks

Just let me know your address and I'll get it off to you. the old one might have been "glued" in because the O-ring had broken. They're an awkward size to replace if I remember right.

the other thing with the bike is that it sounds like a 2 cylinder engine in tick over, but when you rev it then it sounds like a 4.
what might that all about?Huh
it goes well enough for a 400 cc bike.

Your carbs likely need to be synchronized to get all 4 cylinders running equally.  Mine was off on the No.4 carb and it was rough just off idle, then smoothed out.  Synched them and the motor runs great now.

ok, will do that in the morning, thanks for the help.
will let you know how it goes.
so tight margains to keep that one going, unlike my Yamaha xs750 triple (1977), old aircooled engine, simple electrics, simple carbs, simple bike and lots of fun, & noise.
