Thought I had a dead battery but when I exchanged for a new one I still got no lights or nothing.
What would be the next logical step To check?  Could it be a bad fuse?  I even check my old battery and it was reading 12 on the voltmeter.

The mechanic said even thou it read 12.4 the battery could still be weak.  Could that be true?
Either way it doesn't look like a battery problem.

What's my next logical step to check?

Fuses and connections would be next.

Could you tell me where the fuses are located?
Connections to what? Where would I start to look?

right hand side, under the aluminium panel, under the seat. Connections, as in all of them. Not kidding. Wherever there's a jack, disconnect, check, clean and connect back. PITA, I know...

I can hardly wait! ha ha ha.  Any thoughts on what I should take for a 3 to 5 day trip in the middle of nowhere?

I can see I must be prepared as best I can.
Where are you from?  What kind of CB1 do you have
Are you one of those mechanical geniuses?

I have no clue, I would never go to the middle of nowhere :-) bring a lot of water. And cigarettes! Seriously, other guys can help more, I can only guess.

I am not a mech wiz, just an amateur... I've seen and fixed a lot though... Dalibor Šmit on facebok. From Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Always start with the easiest and least expensive fix first. For example, if the engine turns over but won't start you 1st check to see if there is gasoline in the tank - you don't rebuild the engine 1st.
