Does anyone have a rough idea of the CB-1 engine weight? Without carbs etc.

Doesn't the manual say about 55kg? Don't know if that's with oil or anything else on/in it.
It's heavy but you can lift it on your own if you don't have to go far. Easier with two people on it by far of course.
It's about 120lb so more or less like lifting my girlfriend but with less complaining and handholds which won't bruise!

I should have checked the manual first! 57kg dry. Doesn't state whether or not that includes ancillary equipment. Wouldn't think so?

Won't include carbs or exhaust but should inc everything inside the cases. Careful of the oil filter they are not good handholds! If you have two people the front subframe can be a handy lifting point for person 2. Remember to remove front sprocket before dropping engine out!

It's actually to see about having an engine couriered from Essex to Edinburgh. I have seen an engine on eBay that looks clean and reasonably low mileage. I'm trying to make the decision of either making my engine look good, it's very dirty, both engine cases have had a scrape along the road at some point and one of the engine mounts has broken and been poorly welded by the PO. I got a really cheap set of crank cases which sorts out the engine mount issue but the cases seem to be hard to get a hold of. The gaskets are also either really expensive or impossible to source. I have found some but they're not cheap so I'm wondering if the accumulative cost of sorted my engine out is worth it or do I just replace with a clean engine. I'm thinking one from a CBR400RR as it will have lived behind fairings all it's life so should be scrape free. Obviously I'd check that out before buying.

So even if the engine is an NC23 the engine mounts could be different?

I have two spare good motors, what's your budget? I'll see how much I can get one sent up there for.

Yup i have not tried it myself but i was thinking of doing it to save re jetting and changing cams and all the nitty gritty stuff, i too figured a straight swap would work but as was pointed out to me it doesn't. Drewski's an honest dealer, and a good bloke he'll help you out as best he can.

Ok, I see now. I have crank cases from a CBR400 which I'm hoping I can swap with all my other engine parts. As far as I can tell these parts are the same and as I'm using the CB cylinders and head the upper mounts won't change....................crossed fingers!
