Hi smurf,
Take th allen Bolt out the bottom of the forks. It isn't easy you will do it best with a rattle gun and long Allen bit. then bash the forks apart using a slide hammer action and they will come apart. YouTube might be best for visual instruction.

You should be able to replace the seals without splitting the forks but it's better if you do, that way you can make sure it's nice and clean where the seal fits and clear out as much of the old oil as possible. One problem with splitting the forks is that there's a good chance you'll damage the bush and it'll need replacing. Although again, it's not a bad idea to do this while the forks are out, and worn bushes can cause the seals to blow in no time. Might be worth measuring spring length too.

One tip:- In case you don't know this already - when you're sliding the new seal onto the stantion, make sure the stantion is as clean as possible and cover the stantion with cling film then slide the seal over that and also coat the seal in fork oil first. It's very easy to damage the surface of the seal.

thanks for all your help, just couldn't pull the forks apart at first and didn't want to use too much force, but got it done in the end.
thanks again, ready for the MOT now...
