So this is my ride.

I weigh about 210lbs with all my gear on and I can push this bike harder than I think I should be able to. My other bikes are 1000cc's or bigger so I don't know if my seat of the pants accelerometer is out of calibration or not.

I did notice that the pinch bolts for the front axle are drilled for safety wire. Oddly though not the oil drain plug or filter. Actually none of the other race prep sruff is done. It has all the bungee wear marks from serving duty as a bay area commuter for a good portion of it's life. I'm the third owner since it was shipped in from Canada. I think the first american owner crashed it (by some damage to the instrument cluster and brake reservior) but the front end is perfect. Maybe an ex-racer's emulator equipped front end was put in place of the stocker during the repair?

Is there a way to tell if it's got some goodies without tearing the whole thing apart?

Pinch bolts don't come from the factory drilled so you're probably right. Front end or whole bike was tracked at some time. If you are 210lb the front end, if stock, will feel S O F T  soft. I weigh about 160 and under heavy braking the front dives incredibly. I have never put tie wraps on to check actual maximum travel but I suspect that it is very close to bottoming. I have put in heavier fork oil (20 weight) and it helps a little but the springs are very soft as well.

Other than just being able to compare to a stock bike I don't know how you could check for aftermarket springs or emulators both of which would be a marvelous addition.

I love the way the CB-1 handles and it is one of the finest city bikes I have ever ridden but the handling and track potential don't hold a candle to my 07' ZX6R.

BTW. great looking bike and the road makes me jealous. The little 400cc bike will give you a ton of fun. A wise man once said. It is more fun to ride a slow bike fast than ride a fast bike slow. Not that the -1 is a slug, but it is tons of fun wringing it out and keeping it up in the power band without being at ridiculously high speeds that most sportbikes reach before you are even close to redline.

Just by the looks of it, it appears to be stock.  I would say that if it still has the stock exhaust system on it, which it appears to have, then I doubt that any mods were done to the engine.  The CB-1 can be pushed very hard!  Much harder than most people think! I race mine and I have allowed a few of my friends who also race, to take it out on the track, and they have come back very surprised!  Even stock, this bike has a nice hit of power, above 10 grand until redline!  It will scream like a 2-stroke above 10 grand! It takes some getting use to, but DAMN, its a blast riding it up that high in the rev range!!! Does it still have rubber brake lines or steel braided?  A drilled oil drain bolt is much easier to change than brake lines...

Thanks for weighing in guys. I have since painted it and given it to my girlfriend for Christmas. The only thing I'm doing now is trying to get the stock rear fender and turnsignals put back on. I hate the hacked fender and small signals that are on it now. So does my girlfriend.

I think it is a non-original front end. The general consensus that I get from all of you other owners is that the there should be more clearance between the tank and grips when at full lock. I think it may be a function of the stearing stops. I'll keep ya'll updated as I get more into it.

a full lock! Roll Eyes I checked out the stearing stops, and it does look like they could
do with an improvement! ah well, the joy's of bikeing!!!

There is actually less clearance than the thickness of my thumb. At full lock there is less than half an inch between the grip and tank.

I'll try to snap a photo and post it up.
