Hi,
My speedo stopped working the other day, so I took off the connector and tried running the bike in gear while it was on it's centre stand (saw that trick on one of the other posts) and there is no mobvement on the inner.   The real conclusive proof that the cable is broken is that when I gave it a gentle tug it came out, broken near the bottom.

I assume the screw in the cover next to where the cable goes in to the front sprocket cover needs to be taken out in order to remove the outer....

The question here is, can I use a speedo cable from another type of Honda, or do I need to get one specifically for a CB1?

I need the outer and the inner as the bloody outer got a bit cut in half when i couldn't get the screw out of the sprocket cover  Sad

If you are close to any Honda dealership, go to the parts department, and ask them if that cable is still available. If not, see if they can cross reference the part number with any other Honda bikes.  Also check ebay to see if there is one on there.  Just recently, I did see many CB-1 parts for sale on there. Looked like someone was parting out their bike...

Hi,
Thanks for the info, some good ideas.

I found a site (Worlds End Motorcycles) which does parts for the CB1, including the reg/rect which everybody says is dodgy.

http://shop.wemoto.com/index.dyn?oid=25311

They are in the UK, I'll post again once the parts arrive and let everybody know how it goes.

I just brought a new speedo cable thinking it was broken, only to find it was a plastic deely at the sprocket end. Anyway long story short, you can buy the cable off me if you like, hasn't been used yet.
