I got rear-ended at a stop light on my '89 CB-1 last week.  My insurance company is trying to tell me the bike is only worth $1100 (according to NADA) and they won't fix it for $1800.  I'm trying to contest their value assessment, so I'm asking if anyone has bought/sold an '89 recently, in what condition, and for how much.

Thanks

Sorry to hear of your misfurtune. I assume that you are okay though.  Insurance companies are like that. They are only going to pay what that book tells them to, even if your bike was in mint condition.  The only thing I can think of, is if your bike was in mint condition and you had pics to prove it. Or maybe argue the fact that you bike, even though it was an '89, did not have many miles on it, if thats the case.  Otherwise your stuck with them only paying the $1100.

May 2006 I bought a mint 89 CB-1 with 8000km (5K miles) For $2500 U.S.  $1100 will not get you much in the way of a really fine CB-1 in most areas.

if you want to replace it i'll sell mine for $1100.00.needs a battery and the tank is scuffed(kinda of rough) but as was stated before 1100 doesnt get much in the way of a cb-1.

Thanks to you both.  My insurance agent valued it at $1400, which is a complete hose-job.  They told me they don't pay estimated replacement cost, the pay "actual cash value".  The mechanic put my damage at $1800, so it looks like I'll be doing some of the repairs myself.  I'm not interested in another bike, just need a few discontinued parts!

I'm sure most, if not all, of what you need is available on ebay right now. There is quite a bit of CB-1 stuff on there.
