My CB-1 arrived today. The plan was for me to unload it off Truck 1 from Montreal on to Truck 2, destined for our shop to be disassembled, customized, and reassembled over the next few weeks. I really didn't want to ride it and start showing off the bike I've been talking about for months until it was "ready", until it had become the bike I've been watching in my dreams over and over again.

Well Truck 1 arrived 3 hours early. 3 hours before Truck 2 was to arrive to receive the bike.

I tried to resist. "I'll just go get the plates," I said "That will kill some time."
So I did. And it killed about 20 minutes. "I'll just put the plate on now. That will kill some more time. Besides, I intentionally left my gear at home so I COULDN'T ride it even if I wanted to, also it's way to cold and windy anyway."

That killed another 5 minutes.

30 minutes later I was wearing 3 pairs of pants, 3 shirts, my jacket and helmet and enjoying the best example of engineering meets metal and gasoline meets human being I could ever hope to imagine.

I can't believe this thing. We're all very fortunate. I won't go on, I know you all know what it's like.

Wow.

Is that right. There is some kind of association around here that has track days, but I have no idea what goes on there. I guess I'll look into it. I can't believe it will be another 3 weeks before I can experience it again (mods and weather).

Pretty cool bike, huh? Wait till the weather warms and you don't have cold, sand covered roads and tires to fear!
Hard to believe it is 20yr old technology and only 400cc. Grin

Yes.  Its a blast on the track.  I have some mods done to mine.  Stock the US models put out 45 bhp.  I have close to 60 in mine.  Those extra horses along with suspension mods, and I usually have a few guys asking me if I have a 600cc engine shoe-horned in the CB-1 frame!  LOL  Like one magazine said long ago...It is a wolf in sheeps clothing!  Wink

What mods do you have in mind to do?

Do a search for race tracks in your area, then contact the track for info regarding track days

For this season I'm just doing some cosmetic stuff. I'll post some pics as I go along.

Probably intake, exhaust and jetting for next season. Maybe port and polish. A good friend is a machinist, he did another friends bike and seemed to add a little torque, but really smoothed it out over the whole rpm band.

As I do some more research and have a clearer idea of what I want to accomplish I'll make some more decisions. I may just experiment with some easily reversible stuff, like sprockets etc.

I know it's awesome already but evolution is in my DNA, like honda, and you guys (probably even you too clark Wink

Yeah I'm working hard to get my fix. My girlfriend and I broke up. She's on the fence as to whether she wants to sell it or give it back to me. I've been riding it (for maintenence reasons of course) as much as possible lately.

Dispite being less than half the displacement of my other bikes (SV1000S and K1200R Sport) the smiles per mile factor is adding a lot of value for me.

What a great bike.

Yesterday was the first day I really got to ride my bike. My first time over 10k rpm. I can't believe this machine, it's incredible. Finally got the paint and accessories done and took it for one of the best rides of my life. Then it snowed this morning...no riding today.
