O.K. I'm changing my stock lamp to the Dual Dominator. The trouble is... WHAT TO DO WITH THE MILLIONS OF WIRES I'VE DISPLACED, ARRRGH. You know, all those wires that were neatly tucked away in the stock housing.

So, my question is, has anyone done this swap? What did you do? Did you conceal wires behind the side covers? in the airbox? Zip-tie zip-tie zip-tie? Shorten every wire individually, one at a time?

Resuming the process on Monday, so any feeback I can get over the weekend will be much appreciated.

Are you swapping light because you prefer the looks of the twin lights or is you're stock light looking a bit tired? I allways prefered the look of the original light myself. I've seen kits for sale in Japan with extensions for the switchgear wires made for fitting higher bars so they're out there. If you could get some and theres room, behind the front side panels could be the best bet. Trouble is, the connecters would still be exposed to the elements.

Mainly a looks thing. I investigated behind the side panels. Quite sure not enough room. Thx though.

Aye, not a lot of spare room anywhere upfront on the CB-1. Just about everything is shoehorned in Embarrassed

clark, c'mon. don't you know some magical way to make this work, complete with diagrams, video, music, maybe some witty commentary?

Sorry, no song and dance for ya this time. I could build you a Honda karting engine and race kart or an early Mini Cooper with my eyes closed but I really haven't done a lot of bike mods. Just standard repair and maintenance. I will give it some thought. Huh

I have one question though. Have you ever used the dual Dominator type headlights before? I just wondered if they put out anywhere near the amount of light that the stock Honda headlight does.

I hope beam pattern is good. haven't heard anything to the contrary. they use the same bulbs, just 2 of them. yeah it's going to draw more current but we'll just keep our fingers crossed and hope that doesn't cause a problem.

I think you'll need to fit two relays, (if you havn't found this out already).

As a short term solution pull one of your headlight bulbs. If you have one nearby, go to Princess auto supply and get a surplus relay. They almost always have a bunch for sale reasonably cheap.

When I get a chance, probably in the am tomorrow, I will peek in their catalogue and see what might work for you. Big rush today, sorry.

I fitted spot lights to a BMW (bike) I had a few years ago and used the same set up as in the thread. The relays I used had fuses installed tho, so I didn't have to but seperate fuse holders for each light. The wiring diagram in the link makes it a lot simpler, even for someone as useless with electrics as me. If you have a Car auto parts shop nearby, (unsure how near "nearby" is in Saskatchwan  Grin ), they should stock the relays, just check they have the same numbers on them as in the link. You'll still need to fit thicker wire from the relays to the lights. Again, most auto parts shops will stock the different size wire, they keep it for folks fitting their own car entertainment systems. Due to the CB-1s tendancy to blow the reg/rec, drawing more current could be a good thing maybe.
