well greetings everyone, im from michigan, but work out in philadelphia. i just picked up a cb-1 for 500 bucks!! only catch is that it doesnt have a title. not a big deal to me, im used to riding dirty anyways... this bike is super light!! it feels as heavy as an enduro, but waaaay faster....lol this has got to be my.....30th or so bike...the only reason i picked this bike up is because the thing just runs like a freakin top!! starts right up on the second push....everytime....lol i guess it pays to put a good battery in huh??? lol but the only flaw with the bike is the tank looks like its been thru hell an back...im just kinda curious if anyone knows where to get one?Huh  preferably used but if the price is right on a new one...if they even make a new one...ill pick it up.  Grin

but i am actually impressed with the performance with this bike!!! the bike aint fast by any means, but for a 400cc bike, it gets down pretty descent!!!!  i must say this would be about the perfect starter bike for someone, not poweful enough to rip you off the seat, but powerful enough to get down!! nothing scary fast but, fast enough for a beginner (you would just have to tell them to keep the rpm's down while they start) but i think i will hold onto this one for awhile...its nothing fancy, but it just reminds me of my old 919 i had...body style wise...plus its a honda....lol

the only way id ride somthing other than a honda is if you paid me!!!! plain and simple.... nothin and i do mean nothin runs like a honda!!!! bulletproof, dependability, and and always consumer consience... this ones got 35,000 miles and still runs like a freakin top!!!!  ive had other branded bikes,....and to be honest, most of them are too tempromental.... but hondas....no one can touch it!!!!

much respect for engineers who actuallctly care about the consumer.....thanks  and to everyone that rides.... ride that boy!!!!

it dont matter what you ride, prefrences are prefrences... but as long as your ridin on two wheels....much respect from me!!!!
or one wheel.....lol

Hi dezzy and welcome.
I'm sure you will really enjoy the CB-1, especially when you don't have to push start it every time. Grin They are a perfect starter bike with enough poke that you don't get bored so fast like I see so many 250 riders who make the mistake of moving too soon to a 600 Supersport bike because they just can't enjoy the little bike after about a month.

As far as the tank goes, I would suggest that unless it is rusty as hell inside you bondo it up and have it painted in the short term cuz tanks are really hard to find (watch ebay daily) and new ones, if you find one, are more than you paid for the whole bike.

Enjoy the bike.

BTW. Don't cheap out on the battery, they need a good one to start well. Lose a little voltage like when it is cold and they are a pig to get going.

Welcome to the site. Sealed batteries are best. The cheap ones with the holes in them where you fill up the acid last about 6 months to a year on any bike.

why thanks clarkcw, to tell you the truth...if i decided to bondo....well fiberglass is actually the right thing to do but, there would be as much fiberglass as the tank itself....lol there is probably 6 or 7 dents ranging from golf ball size at the smallest to a 6" radius....lol  ive repaired gas tanks before  but, they also had a fuel pump on the bottom so you had pretty good access to stick a pry bar or somthin in that nature in there to push it out where this has no holes....and im not about to cut it open on the bottom to have a big enough hole just to push it out....lol but, your right....there is no rust on the inside....so i guess i am better off just dealin with it....hmm makes me think, i might be able to make a cover out of fiberglass to cover the whole thing....kinda like for a speaker box....how you stretch the material to cover a wood template.......hmmm maybe that would work?!?!?!? lol ill see about that once i actually get home, where i can pull it apart a little bit and make a decision....

as for a 250...i will never ride a 250....period...cant do it....lol and a 600rr or somthin to that nature just doesnt do it for me...i have.....LOVE my 1000rr....lol 2006, about 165hp...piped, power commander....but its more of a track bike....dont get me wrong theres no feeling like dumping the gas and seat bouncin a bike in 3rd gear and watch the front end come up ever so nicely....but im the type of person to eigther go big or go home....600 are nice but,its not the "big boy".....lol.  i really liked the old 400's like the late 70ish cb 400...that was a fun bike!!! and the kz400...that was even a better bike but, its a kow......lol but to be honest, im just hopin with the cb-1 that it will be a nice cornering bike...cause all in all its not the bike, but the rider!!  and its always fun to push a bike to its max!!! somthin i cant do to my 1000....so this bike should be fun!!!!!

lol, yeah allllll bikes need a good battery!!! its actually the heartbeat of a bike.....without a good charged battery they dont even like to wrap out right but, i just picked it up last weekend and i had to order both levers.....so next is definetly the battery, but id like to try to get a title before that so i dont ride dirty too long....lol but if i dont wind up getting a title...it will become one of 2 things.....an ice racer, or a parts bike for someone....but till the end of summer it will be a bike to cruise on!!!! but after summer will depend on the title....lol

Hey there.  Just picked up my CB1 this past memorial day weekend.  Great fun.  1989 with 9750 miles on it.  In doing my research looking for a first bike, I came across a CB599 at a local dealer.  After searching various websites, I came across the CB1.  I was happy to see that there was a forum for this bike.  Great stuff.
