Hello,

I have two leaking carbs on my bike. They are the middle two. I just took them off, installed new float needles, they were a bit worn, and set the float height to horizontal to the ground, still leaking. I took them off again, set the two middles floats a little lower, still leaking, although slightly less.

The two floats that are in the leaky carbs are very old and dirty looking. The floats in the outside two are nice and shiny new looking. Anyone have problems with this?
I forgot to look at the make and model of the carbs. Anyone know this info? And where to purchase this...? I'm in Northern CA. Thanks

I took my carbs to the local dealer to set the float height. After I cleaned them up and rebuilt them. Cost me $40. Cheaper then buying the float gage for a one time use. Tongue The float height is 6mm.

Where exactly do they leak from? If its the float bowl seal either get new gaskets or use form-a-gasket. Either way clean the seal area real good but dont scrape too much the soft aluminum will scrath easily making them harder to seal up.

My carbs leak bad after its sat for a while. The gas in tha carb gets gummy & causes the floats to stick.

Any advise on who sells the rubber float bowl gaskets at a reasonable price.  The cheapest I could find locally or online is over $20.00 a piece.

Don't use form-a-gasket as a long term solution. Replace them with new ones. You can get them at ServiceHonda.com for $16.92 each. Part# 16010-MN4-305. I found the part# at partsfish.com.

It is interesting that "MN4" is in the part number. The code MN4 is model # CBR600F '87/'88. That would lead me to believe that they are interchangable with that model and year. But I couldn't find any aftermarket gaskets for that bike either.

I agree with mrbones, any gasket replacer is definitely a very short term solution when exposed to gas.
Another source you can try is http://www.hondaparts-direct.com/fiche_section_detail.asp
You will have to follow the options to the CB-1 parts list as I can't post a direct link. Their cost is quoted at $16.66 so it comes down to who has them and shipping costs.
