hi , im a new owner of an cb1, i have always wanted one and i found one going cheap i paid £340 but it is a little tatty.
so my question, would the cbr nc23 carbs fit on my cb1 ? is their a difference between the two as my bike runs bad after 10,000 rpm the bike starts to hold back and run very poor, i have cleaned the carbs and checked tem and they seem fine.

also are the nc23 cams a strait fit on to my cb1 ? would i notice a difference with this done.
also i need new front wheel bearings but honda no longer supply them ,would the cbr bearings fit on to the 1 ?

any help would be really appreciated, thanks james.

I don't know about the cams, but OldBikeBarn.com has the front wheel bearings, just go to street bikes, and go through the stuff to select your CB-1, and they're on the second or third page of parts.

Hi Biker King, congrats on your new bike, if you get half as much fun out of it as me, you should be very happy.

I looked into the CBR cam conversion myself and from what I could make out they fit, but only after being machined and the end results make the bike a bit peaky so it's not really worth it. Your bike should run smoothly right through the rev range so you definately have a problem somewhere. Things I'd check first would be - plugs & caps, fuel filter, float hight adjustment and air filter. Let us know how you get on.

The front wheel bearings are 20 x 14 x 12, same as both the CBR Tri-arm and Gull-arm, however, Honda don't make these bearings anyway so would be more expensive than getting them through a normal bearing suplier. Just go for a recognised make, Jap bearings are usualy a safe bet.

Oh, I'm sure you know this already but if you have a CBR donor bike, don't use the old bearings from that - a front wheel bearing faiulure at any speed can be very unpleasant Wink

over here in the US it made more sense to have MegaCycle rework the stock cams for the TOR bikes. but from what i recall, the RR cam swap involved pressing off the cam gears having a machinist machine the CB-1 gears to fit the RR cams and pressing them back on in the correct timing alignment.

Hmmm...  In the article, "The CB-1 from Heck!", I think that was Cycle or Cycle World, back in the day, Kaz Yoshima, the owner of Ontario Moto Tech, did a 3-stage performance hop up on the CB-1.  He used the RR cams from the CB400RR of the same year of the CB-1.  These cams dropped straight in.  They did put more top end back in the engine.  When the CB-1 was brought here to the States, they took the top end out and gave us more mid-range...

hi, thanks for the help, if i can find a pair of cheap nc23 cams i will see if
they fit and let you know.
today i removed the old wheel bearing and it was in a compleat mess , the inner spinney bit was separate from the outer race and all the ball bearings and bits of mettle were rolling around in the hub, it could have been bad as i had just come off the motorway and was moving in slow traffic when the bearing failed.

also douse anyone know the standard sprocket sizes ,i have 40 teeth on the rear and 15 on the front ,is this the correct sizes.
thanks for any help james.

i'm probably wrong, but i was under the impression that the RR cam gears were of a smaller diameter. like i said i honestly dont know, i sent the cams to MegaCycle to have new profiles put to the stock cams.
