I've got a buddy who does great work with plastics and resins, and we've began to look deeper into making replacement cowls for the CB-1.
Does anyone think they would want one?
They'll be high quality, and he says they should end up being stronger, and maybe a little more rigid, because I've had the problem with mine kinda flapping around. They'll be one piece, instead of three put together, and if we have enough interest with the stock ones, we might look into different styles.
Would anyone have any interest in one of these new cowls?

Trouble with making any aftermarket parts for the CB-1is that there are hardly any left - demand is very small. How come your tail flaps about anyway?  The ones I've had always seem pretty sturdy.

I'm not quite sure yet, I don't really know the price of the materials. I know making the initial mold will be around 300 for the silicone, but I'd guess the actual cowls would cost around $150-175. If we can get more people on board now who guarantee they'll want one they'll be cheaper, but as of now it's all coming out of pocket.

I should've worded the flapping comment better, I didn't mean when I was riding. I just mean the way they're kinda flimsy. It could just be a problem with mine though.

The way the centre panel is plastic welded/riveted together doesn't look great I admit. Biggest problem I find is trying to keep them clean and scratch free, esp when strapping stuff on the bike. I think the quality of the plastic is reasonably OK tho. I've been wondering about the 400SF tail and how it would measure up on the CB-1.

I hate the little plastic things in the center, those'll be gone on mine. What does the hole on the right side do? Is there any purpose at all?

I'm trying to make them one smooth, solid, seamless piece.

the hole in the right side is to allow you to check the fluid level on the rear brake reservior.

After a complete momentary lapse in intelligence, I realized this. Haha

So there's no interest in cowls?

The problem being, that I want to actually get people on board to make it worthwhile to even go through the hassle of making them, before going forth with such efforts.

I would be interested.

What about the possibility of remaking the whole tail as a single seat version?
What about permanently modifying the stock tail?

I think it would look cool. I even had to tape some paper together to get a better idea of what it would look like (imagine blue where the yellow is).

I'd like that little rear seat cowl.. but a solo seat tail would be cool too!

I would really like to see a solo tail section for the CB-1.

There are a number of solo rears that will fit the CB-1. Check with sharkskins and similar outfits.

i checked with shark skinz and they didn't have anything that fit the cb1...directly who knows what can sorta fit. heck even my wifes ruckus scooter had something there lol! but i like the idea of the solo seat derived from the original. i might just fab one up with the extra tail fairing and seat i have.
