Nope, no downside other than the work involved.
As I said earlier in this post I belive that the original Hurricane 600 engine might be a bolt in with no mods or only minor mods.
Supposedly the original Hurricane engine was a pumped up CB400 engine, but I don't have any specifics on that.

Any questions you have or pics needed, let me know.

hmmm, how diferent is the blade rear shock? siffness,  rebound etc? and you think a cbr 400 nc23 motor will simply drop in?

The '93 Fireblade shock is both compression and rebound adjustable, but more importantly, 4mm longer than the CB1 shock.
This translates to about 14mm more rear ride height which complimented my F3 front forks nicely.
The Fireblade spring was too soft for my weight (230 dressed to ride), as was the CB1 spring.
I ended up going with a 18kg/f spring sourced from an ST1300
Don't know anything about the NC23 shock, sorry.

I'm really impressed with your engine and parts upgrades. So much more power and just a 10lb engine increase. Amazing!
