Will this ever end!!!!

OK, I need some help figuring thisone out.

Last message I had asked about gas octane and if it could be a problem. I mentioned that I had been using 92 octane and then tried 87 and had a bad experience with the bike stuttering. Thought it was the octane or bad gas. WRONG!!! It was neither. Its the heat.

Yesterday it got warm here again like the day I had the first stuttering symptoms. The motor temperature got warm enough that it kicked on the cooling fan. Took off from the light and the engine started popping. It was the same symptoms I had when I put the 87 octane in the tank except this time I had 92 octane in the tank. I got about another mile and the bike just would not give me any power. It was as if the spark plugs were just not getting any spark. I got a few back fires and then it just shut down. I could start it again, but it ran very rough. I was only a couple miles from home so I started pushing the bike. After about a mile, I started the bike again and the temp needle was in the cool zone. Bike started just fine and I was able to ride it home.

So It appears that when the motor temp gets to the point where it kicks on the cooling fan, I stop getting power. I get a very bad stuttering motor as if it is not firing the cylinders. Anyone care to give this one a go and help me figure out what the problem is?

if you think heat is the problem, put some engine ice in it. can be bought ant any bike shop, and it helps keep things cooler. mine used to fall on its face in the oklahoma summers, but this stuff helps with engine temps. try it and see if it helps yours.

btw, you may also want to check your wiring to make sure there are no shorts anywhere.

You have an adequate quantity of coolant? It's not as old as the bike? Thermostat not stuck? My temp guage runs about 1/3 up from bottom, even after an hour of 90MPH. Stays there in town too. All at 90+ degrees ambient temp.
