VIN tag replacement?

I have this bike that has the VIN stamped into teh neck and had a sticker that matched, but the frame has been striped for paint and the sticker was destroyed in the process by the guy prepping it for paint...is there a way to get a replacement sticker? Do I even need the sticker to register the bike in the US? or is the stamping good enough?
