Hi folk's,
I need to get a 33bhp restriction kit for my -1.  Does anyone know where they can be sourced for a reasonable price in the UK?

Thanks in advance

Hey there minty!  The biggest thing about the restriction is the paperwork and for this reason restrictor kit companies charge a fortune for them.  The only company I know of that will do it is FI international and you will be looking at £172 + the fitting which is normally about 1.5 hrs labour!

my bike has the restriction kit fitted, its 4 big washers that fit between the carbs and the engine. i want to get them out really as I'm on a full licence but use the bike daily. the previous owner had them fitted and reckoned they didn't make that much difference, a lot of the folks on this site talk about 50+hp and the certificate with my bike says 33 but it goes well enough for my 8 mile commute. heres a link:

Maybe I shouldn't fit it then, I will often cover 100Miles+.  But then again i like my license enough to not want to have it taken from me also. cheers.

If you take them out can I buy them off you? There is no way I am paying 190 Euro's for a washer.  I can make one myself if only I know the dimensions?

Hi guys first post....

I would be interested in this.  I have just bought a '93 US import CB1 for my son (well, ok, loaned the money for a while).  He is on a restricted licence.

On Bikechatforums there is a thread that says the washers are 35mm outer diameter and the hole is 27mm diameter.

On 400greybike there is a post saying 36.5mm x 18mm and another saying the washers are oval as well.

As far as insurance goes AFAIK and it might vary from company to company but they insure you for the standard bike.  How much less power than standard it makes is really irrelevant for them and is matter between you and the police.  They are interetsed in mods that make the bike either more powerful or increase its value as they would affect premiums, but a restrictor kit would not.

The US models were only 1989 and 1990. The '89 had grey tank stickers.  The '90 had red tank stickers.  Both years they were smurf blue color, like the picture of my race bike under my user name.

What year does it say on the VIN tag, thats on the frame?

Do you lose your license for not having the kit fitted? If it was me, I'd forget about it and my son never bothered with his CB-1. I don't think most of the police understand the law and how to enforce it anyway. In my opinion, the bike would be safer with the intended power output, especialy when it comes to overtaking other vehicles on faster roads. Far be it for me tho to encourage people not to stick to the rules - that's your decision. Wink

Hmmm, mine is listed as an '89 but had red stickers.

ive just had the offending articles removed and would love to be able to tell you all how much better/worse/indifferent the bike is but its decided to run on 3 cylinders just cos the sun came out (!) so im waiting for my replacement plug leads to arrive
 Angry
basically the dealer fits 4 washers 35mm dia  with 17.5 mm hole in em between the carbs and the head, fills out a form to satisfy the law and charges you £200!!! dealer probably pays F1 registration fee , I,ll post you the washers but I suspect its the paperwork that you would need if the worst happened with the boys in blue/ insurance after an accident
heres a pic

yeah but arent you supposed to comply with your licence restrictions, i hate it when insurance companies wriggle out of their resposibilities by finding some detail to invalidate your policy. wouldnt be the first time.....

I don't think paperwork is to relevant, the only way to prove power output is on a dyno so as long as the washers are in there I reckon I'm covered.

I have pm'd you my address. Regrads
