Looks great. But, yeah, a little pricey considering what else you could buy for the same money.

Would have to be a HELL of alot of CB1 for his buy it now price !!!!   Wink

I recently bought a fantastic F3 with a beautiful pipe and jet kit for a thousand less than his B.I.N. price !!

I love my little CB1 trackbike......but at my bargain budget price !!   You can get a bootload of 600 sportbike for $2500 if you look around.   Wink

I agree with you that the buy it now price is over the top but I think that you will start to see the prices of CB1's climbing rather than dropping now. They are fairly rare and to find one with low miles and in good shape even more rare.

If you are looking for a bike to simply ride you can get way more bike for the same money. If on the other hand you are also looking for a reasonable investment that you can ride for free because it will appreciate over time then a mint low mile CB1 is going to be a good starting point.

The price of earlier CB400f bikes is very strong now for good examples. The fact that there are almost no new bikes on the market of similar type (great starter bikes) hasn't hurt their value either. The prices of the Honda CBX, CB750, 550, 500, etc. are definitely collector type prices now and I think/hope that the CB1 will follow very soon.

True, point well taken.

However , have you noticed what the early 80s Honda CX500 turbo goes for on evilbay ??  It in my personal opinion is a very interesting collectable that goes for a sensable price in reguards to todays sometimes absurd collector prices.

I have owned at least 30 bikes that fall into todays "Desireable" collector catagorys, and the CB 1 may well fall into favor sometime down the road too.  I dont think it will ever be worth a mint, like say a vintage CBX however.

Finding a bone stock, low miles, completely unblemished bike would be the key.........but what fun would that be to look at it sitting under a cover in the shop !!   Roll Eyes

The CX500 turbo was one of my choices when I decided to get back on a bike. The potential problems that not having maintained the oil changes can have on turbo life and the expense involved made me shy away. They are a very nice bike though and I agree can be very good value.

My reasoning when buying the CB 1 was that it would provide a fun ride, reasonable mileage, cheap insurance and a good return on investment down the road, assuming that I don't have any trauma with it and maintain it in tip top shape as I would any vehicle anyway. It certainly has fullfilled it's role well up to now.

I bought mine off ebay as well and paid just under $2500 U.S. It has less miles on it than the one just sold. Mine had 8100km.

It will definitely NOT remain under a tarp in my garage. I already have put on about 1000km in a month. As soon as I get my new rubber (hopefully tomorrow) it will be ridden much harder than it ever has. The original tires had huge chicken strips when I got the bike, although they are much smaller now. I am blown away how much better than my previous bikes it handles and I can't wait to see what it feels like with modern technology sticky radials.

I agree with Clark on this one, the prices are going to start going up.  With the rising cost of fuel and the rarity of the bike it is becoming harder to find one.  Another Honda product that was made ahead of its time, but they should bring back.  Just think of how many of these they would sell today brand new for 4 or 5 grand!!

The market for now seems to be about 3K for a pretty clean CB-1. I've seen 3-4 this year go for that. Thry are getting pretty rare and should go up from there. What was the BIN price?

I honestly don't think they are worth more than $2000 unless in museum quality or real low miles. There's one for sale in Ocala, FL for $2000obo and will probably sell for $1800. If you are a real collector and enthusiast, all bets are off!
