CBR400RR exhaust, won't work
«

Well tonight I tried to fit up the CBR400RR exhaust again. Trying different approaches. I think I know now why a CBR400RR exhaust system will not work.
I have a CBR400RR parts manual. Looking through it I noticed something different. The tech drawings are pretty accurate and so I compared the motor of the CB-1 to the motor of the CBR400RR. The block is the same as well as the head (except for the frame mounting tabs). I noticed a difference in the oil pan. The CB-1 oil pan is deeper. That is why the CBR400RR header pipes bump up against the bottom of the bottom of the pan. Because of this, the header will not sit flat against the exhaust port.
I have found a new exhaust system and have contacted to buy it.
This time I have decided to go with a pipe made for the CB-1. Although it is fun to experiment, sometimes it is costly and sometimes it is not. It all helps in the learning department.

It is a well hidden secret
.
In Japan. The one I posted is from Japan. I have a buyer contact over there that has gotten me a lot of parts. His web site is
http://moriwaki-man.webs.com/
. His web site does not list the parts, you can find the parts on yahoo japan auctions. Problem is it is all in japanese. I do nto read japanese, but I know what to click on to get to the listings.
Here is the link I saved to get directly to the page to find parts. After you look over the stuff for a while, you can sort of understand what the listings are, what the buy it now price is, how many bids or on it and when the auction ends. Also, if you want to understand it a little just pull up a online translation page and cut and paste the text.
http://list1.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/26318-category.html
in the box on the upper left side, just put your search in for CB-1 or CBR400RR or NC30 or NC35 or MC28 or HRC or whatever bike you want to look for parts on. then click the small rectangular box to the right of the search box and it will start your listings. Play with it long enough and you will understand what you can look for. It is fun to see all the parts. Especially Honda stuff since so much Honda stuff is interchageable.
I just got an email from him that BEET makes a good system for the CB-1 so I asked him to get me pricing info on it and to hold off on the one I posted a photo of.

BTW, look under CBR400RR and you will find a set of 400RR cams, cam cover and cam hold downs for about $160.00. They are used, but they look decent.
Here is a direct link to them.

When I got my first CB-1, back in 1990, there was a place in California that sold many of the BEET and Nassert parts for the CB-1. Its been long gone, but they did have some nice stuff!
bbanna,
I am sure you will like these! Go to tyga-performance dot com and then click on the picture of the "TYGA Carbon NC-35". Its just under that green ninja 250. When the project report comes up, click on any of the pics of the wheels! They are carbon fiber and they are SWEET! ENJOY!!!

Those wheels are cool
.
The best part is I have the setup to use those wheels
. Maybe when I get my second CB-1, I will build that with the MC28 single sided swing arm and use those wheels. Although I do have a set of mag wheels for that setup as well.
BTW, I have information on a CB-1 exhaust. The manufacturer is Yamamoto Racing. They make a SS system with a TI can and a CF can. Cost is just under $1000.00.
http://www.yamamoto-eng.co.jp/index2.html
. Scroll down to the CB-1 heading and click on the red highlighted text.
I also found a used Yoshimura system that I am going to try and get. Though it is used, it still looks real nice.

If you want to browse Yahoo Japan, google some of the agents that bid for you,(Mail order Japan is quite a good one). Some of them have translation services. If you think of using any of the profesional agents though,
proceed with caution
, it's a minefield out there, you can end up paying more in duty, shipping fees and commision than the part is worth.

thousand dollars for an exhaust a world away seems pricey to me. if you can find a good welder/machinist you could have one made for cheaper and you wouldnt have to trust someone on the other side of the planet with your money.
i had my exhaust made for about $800.00 including the muffler can that i bought seperate. doing it this way you can choose any number of ways to have it made and what its made out of. i went with a 4-2-1 ss plumbing and a polished alum. canister.

?? I would love to get one?? I have a Yoshi can that was on a CBR400RR I am just going to fit it to the Kerker exhaust, I have the original but I don't want to ruin the original exhaust. will the Yoshi can require any adjustment to the bikes timing?
