Project day 3 - dual bi-xenon hid conversion
«

My first project day of the season was just oil and coolant. Second was brake pads and tires. Tomorrow is the day I've been waiting for, HID day!!
I ordered the kit from autoluminate off egay. I'll let you know if they're any good. I went with 8000k, iceberg blue (mostly white slight tint apparently).
Anyone else done this b4?

I installed a 6000k HID in my stock headlight. Light output is pretty insane. It only works when high beam is switched on, which is fine with me because it is bright enough to not need a separate "bright" mode. Does the kit you purchased include a new headlight and everything? Do you have a link?

I've got the dominator dual chrome headlights, 3 1/2 inch. Halogens were drawing too much power giving me a charging problem so I ordered dual HIDs. About half the power consumption. I don't have a link handy, tough to post one from my phone but I will later if I remember. Egay autoluminate bixenon, seach that and you'll probably get there. Only about $225cad shipped.
Did you have much trouble finding a spot for the ballast?

I gotcha. So your getting rid of the stock headlight all together and are going to be using two 3.5 inch ones? What do you plan on doing with all of the wires inside the stock headlight bowl? It was definitely tight mounting the ballast. I found a deal that was too good to pass up ($30 for two H4 bulbs, two ballasts, and the harness) so the ballast was the standard size one. If I wanted to spend more money I would have got a slim one, which would have made mounting much easier. I ended up putting it behind the left infill cover and zip tying it to the support. I'll try and get some pictures if you're interested.

I've had the dials for a year now. Got wires tucked underneath the lights and hidden in both infills, although there wasn't much room in there to begin with. I've got slim digital ballasts but there's two of them so I'm in for quite a day tomorrow.
Jobs like this are funny. Of course they go really well with beer. As they get frustrating, more beer. Then the beer starts making the job tougher, then easier, because you just end up saying f it, taping up whatevers hanging, and bolting everything back together. Voilą! Another project done!

I hear ya. The slim ballasts will make it much easier at least. Doing up a little how-to might be nice for the other members and I'd like to see some pictures when it's all said and done. Keep us posted

hey. Ok the lights are installed. Not easy. Nothing fit anywhere (at first) not a single wire on the harness was the right length, it was hell untill about beer 3.
I'll post some pics later, after I tidy the job up and it's ready for the streets.
Btw, the lights look AWESOME! Totally worth it.

Where did you find this HID? Was it just a simple swap?

The dominator dual headlights are a little wide than stock. About 8 inches, stock is 7. I did use the stock brackets though, I just used some washers as spacers on each side where the brackets bolt to the bike.
I got the hid kit from eGay. Company is called AutoLumiate, from southern California. Cost me about $200cad shipped. Slim ballasts, bi-xenon.
The light output is insane. Looks really good, you can see much better at night, just make SURE you aim them properly or you'll blind people 2 towns over. Very very bright.
Just my stlye though.
Pics coming soon. I'm just never at my laptop anymore and I can't upload from my phone. I'll do it soon though. Also took pick when I put my new awesome rizoma grips on the other day, will do how-to on that too.
