I have just been informed that the throttle cables I ordered through Honda are now un-obtainium. Anyone have a source for new ones?

Mine are so gunked up throttle action is rather stiff. The internal teflon sleeve is fraying so repairing the ones I have is out.

I have a new set but as they're now NLA, I'm not sure if you can afford them Grin

Glad I just snagged both sets of handle controls, original grips, choke cable, and both throttle cables for 18 bucks  Cheesy

Thanks, I found them on wemoto and ordered up! Then I was working on the CB-1 in the garage today - fitting my new clutch cable. Looks good, pull is light and easy now. Then I went to replace the choke cable and....they gave me the wrong one!! I hope i'm not running into the same problem with the choke?! The standard CB-1 cable has a very very small end to it and the threads on the tube that screws into the switch housing is smaller than the one I have.

I'm not sure if he's still there, or if he still has the bike, but from what I could work out one of the guys at Wemoto rides a CB-1. he probably makes sure they keep the stock up Cool

Just had a look in the garage and I've got a couple of new choke cables if you have trouble finding one ever there. I see they're listed as NLA at CSMNL too  Shocked Parts seem to be running out very rapidly recently Embarrassed

 Grin Grin

I started picking up parts after I'd had my first CB-1 about a year and decided to keep it - "till death us do part" sort of thing. before that, i would usualy buy 3 or 4 bikes a year, (soooo many bikes - so little time). Then, when I bought the second bike for restoring, i started to pick up more NOS parts with the intention of using them all during the resto, but alas, we had the credit crunch and the lack of work over the last few months has forced me to sell most of it Sad Some of the parts I've got from a couple of local breakers and some of it is from Japan. Before the exchange rate plummeted, I was picking up a few bargains and because of their low value, there was no duty when importing so, even with International post, they worked out reasonably priced.
I have a friend who has done the same for a few years with RD350LC, (RZ350 31K) Yamahas. He's now got about 3  containers and 2 garages full of bikes and parts. For him, I think it's partly an obsession and partly a sort of retirement fund. He was telling me the prices some of the old parts are now realising, for example £250 for a used 1976 spoked wheel hub Shocked

Drew, we all appreciate your resourcefulness. I'll let you know later today if I'll take you up on that offer!

Turns out they sent by one of the two throttle cables, but labled it a choke cable. They are looking into getting me the choke cable, so it may still be available. In the mean time I have ordered a set of throttle cables from wemoto, so if anyone needs the cable I have let me know. I can keep it instead of returning it. I'll just charge exactly what I paid.

Also if you just can't find what you need, Motion Pro has a custom cable service.

http://motionpro.com/custom/index.php

I just might need new cables for the FCR flat slides so I will probably use this service. You also get a choice of different sleeves other than OEM.

We also have a company in the UK that can fabricate custom cables called Venhill. Very good they are too.

Didn't mean to offend it's a great idea and i'm sure the bike would've turned out great, stupid credit crunch. I'm thinkin of upgrading to a gsxr 750 after this bike, as this is only my second bike, but somethin tells me to hang on to the cb-1 might lend it to my brother for a few years Grin make him take care of it till i'm ready to take it back.
