I usually use the best part of a 4 liter can of castrol fully synth on every change, that's allowing the oil to run through the engine and topping up again, i just use a standard hi-flo air filter and change it at every oil change, i don't think there's a massive difference in the K&N and the hi-flo except in you're pocket.

Your question seems to answer itself. My manual says the same so that is what I put in except I do it in litres. Grin
