Hi all i had an off on the bike there last thursday, my gear all got cut off in the hospital, but i've to get a new lid i'm finding it hard to decide what helmet i should get now as obviously i want the best for my own protection but i would also like to get a flip lid, i've been on sharp and snel and according to sharp the caberg flip lid is a 5 star but snel doesn't have any flip lids on their recomended helmet list??? any views? i'll get a full face if it's the safer of the two options but i'd like the caberg just for ease of conversation and goin into petrol stations and shops.

I'd go with either a Shoei or an Arai (SNELL and DOT approved) and they're light. Not sure if those are available where you're at but those are excellent helmets. They're worth the price.

What size are you? I've got a flip lid that only wore twice. Can't remember what make it is but it'll be a 59-60cm size. I bought a shoei last year but I couldn't get on with it. I've got the wrong shaped head apparantly. I'm a big fan of AGV helmets. Arai and shoei are a bit too pricey for me, I can think of better things to spend the money on. The short shelf life puts me off a bit too.

For the money I don't think your going to find a better helmet than the Scorpion EXO-400 or EXO-700. Both are DOT and Snell approved. I've been using mine for quite a few months now and I couldn't be happier with it. Sold my buddy on one as well and he loves it.

this be great info, i just went onto sharp and took down every 5 star rated helmet on there and then compared them to the snell ratings out of the 15 five star sharp helmets only three were on the snell recommended list; the Arai gpx5, the bell M1 and the HJC HQ1, but considering the snell is a US test and they may not have some of the helmets produced in Europe i'm not sure the others from sharp aren't up to the same standards, all the same out of those three helmets the HJC is the cheapest and i was wearing one when i came off my bike, it suffered some bad collisions and all i had was a head ache. i think it's the one to go for! thanks for all you're input. in regard to the Skorpion i searched the net for them and i don't think you can get them this side of the big blue wet thing. interesting results all the same!
